Untitled[edit]

I edited this article to update counts on winning streak etc. Also removed description "most boring fight ever televised" which I considered unappropriate. Section 'Mixed Martial Arts' should probably be totally rewritten to better article quality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Largacthul (talkcontribs) 21:05, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Chiasnake, 20 April 2010[edit]

Please revise:

Among his victories are wins over Dan Henderson, Paul Daley, Hayato Sakurai, Dave Menne, Carlos Condit and Yushin Okami. He is currently on a 14-fight winning streak, finishing 8 of his last 9 opponents.

Should Read:

Among his victories are wins over Dan Henderson, Paul Daley, Hayato Sakurai, Dave Menne, Carlos Condit and Yushin Okami. He is currently on a 14-fight winning streak, finishing 7 of his last 9 opponents.

Shields did not finish his last two fights, he won via unanimous decision against both Dan Henderson and Jason Miller, therefore 7 of his last 9 fights have been finished.

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. -- /MWOAP|Notify Me\ 21:35, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is wikipedia not a reliable enough source for you? His MMA record on his wiki page clearly shows he has finished 7 of his last 9 opponents and not 8 of 9. If you need a source for this edit to be done then his mma record shouldn't be on his page by your definition. (98.222.182.133 (talk) 03:19, 6 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]
It didn't get updated for his last decision. Rather than 7 of 9, it should probably say 8 of his last 10; I've changed it to that. —C.Fred (talk) 03:24, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request[edit]

He's got two wins over ray cooper, one of them Canadian, the other American, but both links lead to the same guy who isn't even a fighter but rather a drummer? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.216.62.192 (talk) 05:07, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Use of Flags in Record Chart[edit]

The UFC is an international sporting event. The use of flags is standard in the presentation of every fight in UFC. They are shown prior to every fight and the country of origin is included in most results. I believe it is ingrained in the sport culture and this gives good reason to include them, as an exception to MOS:FLAG. I suspect willing editors that wish to contribute their UFC expertise to our page content would expect to see them. It can also, incidentally, help to keep track of a fighter's identity. In the interest of keeping discussions about this topic in one place, you may wish to comment at WT:MMA#Flags for nationality, where some of your points were already presented. —LOL T/C 03:02, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the tip LOL. I've added my comments to the common disscussion. Niluop (talk) 17:10, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page needs more information of Goldberg (Wrestler) and Tank Abbott.[edit]

The main page needs more information of Goldberg (Wrestler) and Tank Abbott. Jake Shields did have a run-in with them. Majinsnake (talk) 22:49, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Clement Shields[edit]

Dunno if this is worth adding to the "Personal Life" section, but Jake Shields has an older brother named Clement who is also a blackbelt. He is one of my Jiu Jitsu teachers @ Kaijin MMA in Santa Cruz, CA.

Sources: http://kaijinmma.com/ (Scroll to the "Coaches" section) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx5zmRdO_yI#t=16m29s (he can be seen in the light blue shirt cornering Jake just offstage in this match)

(Sorry if this is bad formatting or not the proper place for this post - I'm a wikipedia noob) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.126.105.11 (talk) 04:41, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If he's just a blackbelt but not a fighter with a record, I'm not sure that's notable.ItsRainingCatsAndDogsAndMen (talk) 05:59, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Antisemitic blood libels and Holocaust denial[edit]

Will someone update Jake Shields’page with his turn to outright antisemitic blood libels and Holocaust denial?

This needs to be covered in reliable sources before it can be mentioned on Wikipedia. Honestly, your time would be best spent emailing some journalists who cover these topics. Zenomonoz (talk) 21:37, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Under Controversies, I changed "criticism of Israel" to "anti-Israel posts" because that's the phrasing the source, a Rolling Stones article, uses. While there is plenty of legitimate criticism of Israel, that isn't what Shields is doing.ItsRainingCatsAndDogsAndMen (talk) 05:58, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
