No nicknames at all now?

Looks rather weird, I think, that not one of his many very well known nicknames is mentioned now. Why have they all been removed? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 21:45, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

[[1]], and though the editor didn't give a link, here's what he's talking about: Template:Infobox_musical_artist#alias. --Musdan77 (talk) 05:37, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
OK fine, but total absence in the article now? Looks weird to me. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 23:42, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Obituary-like wording

At the end of the second paragraph, the sentence reads "He leaves behind his children and grandchildren." Does this seem appropriate? It reads like an obituary. --Jmudge (talk) 13:30, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

What a silly nonsense

During the public memorial at the James Brown Arena, nachos and pretzels were served to mourners. Do we really need this absolutely essential information, what was served to the mourners? I couldn't care less if it was actually Greek gyros and Red Bull. Come on...let's cut this out. -andy 2.242.155.86 (talk) 21:25, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

On December 22, 2007, the first annual "Tribute Fit For the King of King Records" in honor of James Brown was held at the Madison Theater in Covington, Kentucky. The tribute, organized by Bootsy Collins, featured appearances by Afrika Bambaataa, Chuck D of Public Enemy, The Soul Generals, Buckethead, Freekbass, Triage and many of Brown's surviving family members. Born in South Carolina, or born in Georgia?

The info box says born in South Carolina. But the article text says born in Georgia. Jidanni (talk) 14:28, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

JB Murder allegations

CNN has a long story alleging that both James Brown and his third wife Adrienne, a decade earlier, may have been murdered. While these are by no means assured facts, this long read is most likely not the last time we will hear about it.

Native American ancestry

I moved this article from the "American people who self-identify as being of Native American descent" category to "American people of Native American descent", which was reverted. Although Brown did describe Native American heritage in his autobiography, this is also supported by Thoughtco which appears to be a reliable source. I don't think the "self-identified" claim is appropriate here since it is not supported by a reliable source. Thoughts? –dlthewave 22:51, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Since I got involved; "self identified" is somewhat open to interpretation, but I'm of the opinion that when someone describes their heritage/lineage as having certain roots, I think that's an implicit (at worst) self identification as having those roots. However, the "open to interpretation" part leaves me somewhat on the fence. As far as I (as an involved party) am concerned, in or out of that category doesn't really bother me (I just put it back 'cause it seemed to be forgotten with the scuffle rather than explicitly removed). As for if thoughtco is a WP:RS - it doesn't look great at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#Dotdash. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs 01:43, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
