That is one ugly photo of Carville. I'll word on getting a replacement. [[User:Neutrality|Neutrality (talk)]] 04:47, 31 Aug 2004 (UTC)

An exercise in futility. (Sorry, I couldn't resist. Move to BJAODN if needed.) Ellsworth
As opposed to a *good* picture of him? The guy looks like a hairless cat with glasses.Critic9328 02:17, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

He's now working for Kerry campaign, so I added that. --mcornelius 14:51, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

The article could use more on Mary Matalin, Carville's conservative Bush-advising wife, and their marriage which many consider odd. (Jan 2005)

Is James Carville actually a Cajun? Not all Louisianans with French surnames are Cajun.

I don't think so. Maybe he has some distant French ancestry, but not even a grandparent. His mother's surname is Norman - not very French. Vulturell 18:52, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion, since last names are commonly based on where a person is from. Norman could be derived from Normandy, on the Northern coast of France. His mother very well could be French, based on wild speculation alone. Mykar15 16:30, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Rajin' Cajuns

why is this note about Lafayette necessary? Is there some legal concern? Seems to me as long as he is not claiming himself to be a college football team there should be no relevance. There are also restaurants, probably bars and drinks, and once upon a time a roller coaster with that name as well. so what? If someone trademarks the name "Bob" we don't need a note about it on every page of a person called Bob do we? keith 05:48, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

new photo

I added a new photo of James Carville that I find most suitable for his entry.

That is one damn ugly fucker. Makes me wonder if there's some actual birth defect here or who knows what explains that look. ThVa (talk) 11:21, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

"a political operative"?

The article said that Carville is considered a "Democratic political operative." This isn't NPOV, because at most half claim that. His wife is a Republican, he hasn't worked too closely for the Democrats for years, and now, he's primarily involved with sports. So, it's a ridiculous claim and not NPOV. I removed it. 71.246.209.173 16:52, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

He's worked on Latin American political campaigns frequently in the last five years. Removal of the term "political operative" is just plain wrong. Why no reference to Carville's work in Latin America for the PRI and other conservative political parties? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.68.34.246 (talk) 04:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

encyclopedia wording...

"In 2005, Carville took a stab at teaching. He taught a semester of the course "Topics in American Politics" at Northern Virginia Community College. The students were elated at having Carville teach them and a" displays an opinion and needs to be changed. 216.48.130.25 17:02, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

also "He also enjoys the sport of running, and he runs every day." - Mohrr 00:11, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Not only that, but taking "a stab at teaching" implies that he didn't teach before and was trying something new, but earlier in the article, it notes that he worked as a high school teacher. Hardly the same thing, but the basics of pedagogy were there. --Kolrobie 07:44, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Trivia

As with all biographical articles, it is not the job of Wikipedia to list every commercial, cameo or personal appearance, especially when the subject is not first and foremost an entertainer. A selection of appearances in such endeavours is absolutely appropriate. Any further additions without a reliable source to indicate that the appearance was individually notable may be removed. All the Kings Men Photo is terrible

It's blurry and you can barely see him! Please update! Omarcheeseboro (talk) 13:51, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Seconded. Horrible photo. Does nothing to enhance the article. -Ichabod (talk) 23:55, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Haha! I think it's great--he looks like a cross between Arthur Clarke and the devil. ThVa (talk) 11:34, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Judas Quote

I think the recent Judas quote regarding Bill Richardson is notable and should be added to quotes. It got a huge amount of attention in the media. - AbstractClass (talk) 16:02, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually I see it was there, but was reverted. Why? - AbstractClass (talk) 16:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Endorsements

What was the name of that phone-in information service, for whose ads James Carville lended his voice back in 2003? 74.68.123.162 (talk) 00:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Deformed?

Is there a reason he looks like something out of Silence of the Lambs or The Hills Have Eyes? 74.56.36.34 (talk) 09:33, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Silence of the Lambs wasn't even a monster movie you idiot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.66.92 (talk) 03:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

In film

Didn't he appear as himself at the end of Billy Madison too? I can't find it anywhere, but I could swear I remember it.

He also appeared in Man of the Year (2006) as a political commentator. Probably just as himself

Prejudiced

Why was it necessary to mention that Carville speaks with a distinct Louisiana dialect? This sounds a little bigoted to me. Would the same contributor mention that someone from the Bronx speaks with a "distinct Bronx dialect"?TruthCounts (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:23, 15 September 2008 (UTC). His nickname is the "Ragin' Cajun". Grow up and don't be so PC. He is known for having a distinctive voice. Its not offensive, unless of course you are suggesting there is something wrong with being from Louisiana. 97.91.168.174 (talk) 10:50, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Democrats to Rule for Next 40 Years?

Oil pipe repairs

James I have been a fan of yours for years i dont no who else to contact Im just a working stiff Who works with boilers and run accross what we are dealing with in the Gulf.It seems they are trying to stop the oil from the inside of the pipe instead outside. Why not install a split ring couping With a larger pipe size that would clamp onto the out side of pipe. The larger pipe would extend past the damaged well pipe a nother flange with a valve that is open can be attached to that and pressed together one complete valve would be closed and oil flow would stop. Sound s simple but it might work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.210.200 (talk) 17:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Cajun ancestry

I have removed the doubtful claim that he has Cajun ancestry. I would welcome anyone who can cite an authoritative source on that, to put it back with a citation. Wjhonson (talk) 22:23, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure why the claim would be considered "doubtful"; a fairly large percentage of people from south Louisiana (and Carville is from there) do have Cajun ancestry (I don't know what the exact percentage is). However, I have no problem with the removal of the statement from the article. Maybe there's some reliable sourcing for the assertion about Carville, somewhere. Famspear (talk) 04:42, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

30 Rock Episode

Carville's quotes from the 30 Rock episode do not need to be cited, as the episode itself is cited in-text and will prove that he did say the things noted.

Fraternity membership?

I have a digital copy of pages 236-237 of LSU's 1963 yearbook, the Gumbo. In it, the Sigma Nu fraternity lists a "C.J. Carville" as one of its members, and the corresponding picture is definitely of Carville. I'd know his "unique" look anywhere. I have looked at Sigma Nu's roster in the surrounding years, and he is listed and pictured only in 1963 and 1964, no other years, and I can't find anywhere else that he was a member of Sigma Nu, or any fraternity, for that matter. Is the yearbook a sufficiently trustworthy source? I can send/post the page from the yearbook if you would like, but I don't know what the rules are on all that.

Looking for someone to nominate this article for GA status

Does anyone else think this article is up to GA status?--Bigpoliticsfan (talk) 00:37, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

I don't think it is up to GA status, but I think it is better than a C class article. I really don't like the subject of the BLP, so I don't want to comment at length, or even suggest specific improvements to the article, as I am not neutral. No COI, just... not neutral. As a general suggestion, Bigpoliticsfan, if you are still interested in seeing this BLP considered for GA status, I would update it with more of Carville's current work. There is a brief mention of his present affiliation with Fox News now, which is good, however, he does a lot more than that, as I seen him commenting on television (CNN etc. not just Fox) about Hillary Clinton's candidacy for the 2016 presidential elections, and her current activities in the Democratic primary race. Concentrate on getting the article improved, and I will be willing to recommend that it be upgraded to better than C class without a lot of work. Then try for GA, with editors that have a more NPOV than I do.--FeralOink (talk) 20:33, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Vandalism

Noticed some vandalism (7/30/19) by a mobile IP, suggesting Carville has a career in prostitution. I tried to revert it, but given that I'm pretty new to editing I'm not sure I've done it well/correctly. I'd much appreciate someone else taking a look and making sure. It's a clunky VERY old thing with early 2000's flash technology. I had to click on the click hole and hope for the best that a malware file wasn't being downloaded to my machine, and then, low and behold, the website design appeared. Critical Chris
