Reviewer: Pratyya Ghosh (talk · contribs) 15:00, 8 February 2013 (UTC) Okay this James Faulkner article doesn't have any good article quality. It has simply 40-50 words. Also not that much reference. Only has some templates. But I belive this article needs much more attention and edit to become good one. Also doesn't have his early life carrier with international carrier. So I don't think this would better to not to backlog the GA nomination page.[reply]

So I'm failing this nomination.--Pratyya (Hello!) 15:00, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coming Out? / Joke?[edit]

In this edit, I was expanding on the coverage of Faulkner's apparent coming out as being in a same-sex relationship of 5 years. Other sources covering this news (beyond those in my edit) included the New Zealand Herald ([1]), the Hindustan Times ([2]), and the New Indian Express ([3]). The-Pope has removed the coverage citing this report that Faulkner's post was meant as a joke. Whether any discussion of this joke will be justified will depend on whether there is much of a reaction / backlash, etc. I am starting this talk page section both so other editors will have a notification that the coverage of the coming out may well be wrong, and to create a space for discussing what coverage of this joke (if any) is appropriate in this BLP. "There seems to be a misunderstanding about my post from last night, I am not gay, however it has been fantastic to see the support from and for the LBGT community. Let's never forget love is love, however @robjubbsta is just a great friend. Last night marked five years of being house mates! Good on everyone for being so supportive."
Cricket Australia (CA) have also made a statement that includes:
"James and CA are supportive of the LGBQTI community and recognises coming out can be an incredibly emotional time."
"The post was not in any way meant to make light of this and, though the support from the community was overwhelming and positive,Cricket Australia apologises for any unintended offence."

To me, the incident should be included, as much as to stop the initial misreported coming out being added based on incorrect RSs, as it being notable. Unfortunately, what he now regrets as a misunderstand/joke will always be associated with him. The-Pope (talk) 05:35, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps. Perhaps not. We should wait and see whether this incident has enduring significance before including it. We don't normally state that people are heterosexual. StAnselm (talk) 09:43, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
