Service in WWI - questionable point[edit]

This article states he transferred from the Middlesex Regiment to the Royal Engineers before he was killed in action in 1916 but the CWGC citation records him as a Private in the Middlesex Regiment at time of death. I cannot read the newspaper citation given at end of the sentence and ask if that citation supports his having transferred.Cloptonson (talk) 16:23, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Cloptonson: It does. The piece begins
News has been received in London from the front of the death of James Williams, popularly known in the football field as "Ginger" Williams. He was killed in a mine explosion in France while serving with the Royal Engineers, to which he had been transferred from the Footballers' Battalion.
and then a couple of sentences about his football career. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:36, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. It appears his transfer had been unregistered at time his death was reported, or it may have been that he had not fully transferred into the Corps but was attached to it.Cloptonson (talk) 16:43, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
