About Jared's mother

Jared's mother related to. . .

Does anyone know if Jared's mother Sharon is related to a Lucy Kammer?

  • Well I suppose she well could be... I doubt anyone besides either of the Kammers (i.e. Sharon or Lucy... lol) would know for sure. JackO'Lantern 05:54, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Ah, okay, thanks. I was just curious, because I know that Padalecki and his family are from San Antonio (as am I) and I had an English teacher in high school named Lucy Kammer. That's why, when I noted what Jared's mother's name was, my curiosity was piqued and I started to wonder if my old English teacher was a relative.
  • Well, your English teacher wasn't famous, was she? Perhaps you could get in contact with her and ask her. Michael 03:44, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Heritage

Can somebody find out his heritage? It seems like his dad is Polish, judging from his last name, and the mother might be German.

  • Ya thats true he has Polish heritage but the German bloodline...that I'm not so sure.
Kammer is a German name.[1][2][3]--Jugbo 04:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Candid character

  • Well as some of you viewers watcher the Ellen Degenere's Show, Ellen scooped some incidents regarding the incident at Jared's Flight of the Pheonix(FoP) sketch. Jared told her that he wasn't used driving to the roads that lead to the FoP filming scene. While he was driving he accidently went to the side of the road and the car came tumbling upside-down.

As he was conscious, a thought cane to him that the car might explode so he make a run from the car, about 50m and right after that he glanced towards the vehicle and well no severe damage and everything was intact. justin Leonnyc2004 06:30, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Jared's siblings

OK, I know there has been a lot of debate , but I can now say that it is Jared's brother who is a doctor. Jared mentions this in a TV interview with Ellen Degeneres. the interview Therefore, it must be his sister who is an architect. Just to clear up any confusion.

Height

There is no way Jared Padalecki is 6'5"... I have met him before and im 5'11" and he was barely like 1-2 inches taller then me.

  • I always go with 6'4" for his height, actually, but that's beside the point. When did you meet him? If it was more than six or seven years ago, I might buy that, especially if he was slouching. As it stands, though, the man makes Jensen Ackles look tiny, and Jensen's height has been reported as 6'1". Waterofthemoon 10:34, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
    • On the CW, during a segment called "CWH" hosted by Mark McGrath, they had Padalecki and Justin Hartley play the video game Guitar Hero II. They described them as: Justin Hartley - Age: 29, Height: 6'3" - Jared Padalecki - Age: 24, Height: 6'3". They have the clip here, under the link happening:Guitar Hero 2. I'd say that's official. Oh, and the winner? Padelecki. With one hand in a cast.  :) --Ebyabe 18:11, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for tracking down that cite. I tried, but my dial-up couldn't handle all that java. Karen | Talk | contribs 23:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Polish

Jared Padalecki is of Polish origin. Padalecki, Padałecki are Polish surnames of many people in Poland and USA too. The surname! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kowalmistrz (talkcontribs) 17:51, 12 December 2006 (UTC).

You'd need a WP:RS for anything included in the article (no, not the IMDB or trivia sites like "MostBeautifulMan.com", which credit no authors) Mad Jack 20:16, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

High School Accomplishments

Is it worth mentioning that Jared (and his teammate Chris Cardenas) won the national championship in Duo Interpretation in 1998? That seems to be a pretty salient fact. [4]76.168.126.84 07:31, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Image problem

In the past week or so, two images have been removed from this page. For the infobox, the rule now seems to be that if it's possible to take a photo of the actor and release it as a free image, then a fair use one can't be used. I personally feel that's a pretty high hurdle -how many Wikipedians have access to the actor for picture-taking? - but that's how things stand. On the image OrphanBot removed of the two Supernatural stars together, I have the impression that this can probably be restored if someone can tag the image's page as to where the picture came from and add a fair use rationale in the article. This shouldn't be too hard...I hope! Meanwhile I've added a screen capture of the actor in a less famous role, because it's sourced and I was able to provide the rationale. I hope that helps! Jared parent's names

On an interview I saw that his parent's names were Jerri and Sherri, if this is true, Why in the text their names are different? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcute12 (talkcontribs) 00:14, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Actual names are usually used here as opposed to nicknames, and Jerry and Sherri are clearly nicknames for their actual names, Gerald and Sharon, as listed in the source cited. However, a TV Guide bio does list the nicknames you mention, so it would be appropriate to add them to the acticle, as long as the full names are given as well. --Karen | Talk | contribs 02:55, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Zoom?

Was Jared on the show zoom on pbs? Because I have this old tape of an episode of zoom recorded and there's this guy named Jared and he looks a lot like Jared, unfortunately they don't say his last name....So does anyone know? Beelover9481 (talk) 07:22, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Zoom?

no, that's not him at all. he doesn't look like him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.210.46.4 (talk) 00:20, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Religion

I seriously have to question the assertion that Padalecki is Catholic. There is no evidence outside MySpace and Facebook rumors. There is no proof he added the citation re religion. There was apparently no priest at his wedding, he had no Catholic schooling, nothing! Some solid proof would be nice, not just the fact that he has a Polish surname. While it's true that Poland is more than 90% Roman Catholic, that doesn't mean every American with a Polish surname is necessarily Catholic.
Also, as far as adding categories, aren't categories re religion supposed to be relevant to the person's life or career or actions. Padalecki is no James Caviezel or Mel Gibson. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 00:20, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Lucifer

I wish it didn't say that he plays Lucifer in Supernatural. First, that was only for a small number of episodes, so I wouldn't exactly make it a credit. Second, and more importantly, if fans of Supernatural want to get people interested in the show, it would be great if there weren't a giant spoiler right on this Wikipedia page in a place people wouldn't normally expect it... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.79.204.37 (talk) 16:22, 26 February 2011 (UTC) I erase that part. It's a huge spoiler than nobody deserves to know before watch the series. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.178.160.210 (talk) 14:40, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

add a credit of himself to his supernatural entry

86.156.41.213 (talk) 01:16, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Please elaborate. If you are referring to the episode "The French Mistake", Padalecki doesn't appear as himself. It's him playing Dean pretending to be Padalecki. --Ebyabe (talk) 14:15, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Actually, Ebyabe, he plays Sam playing Jared, and according to IMDB he's listed as playing himself in that episode. - pinkwrites —Preceding undated comment added 00:02, 23 March 2012 (UTC).

Edit request for GISHWHES 2012

(Redacted) Sarah.J.Campbell (talk) 06:01, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Seeing as the entries would have no encyclopedic value and frankly are just an organized form of vandalism I'd be opposed to any inclusion of such nonsense. GISHWHES should look elsewhere for their scavenger hunt. Gateman1997 (talk) 06:07, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Edited to include additional context regarding the relevancy of these edits to Padalecki's page Sarah.J.Campbell (talk) 06:58, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

As indicated above, such edits have zero encyclopedic value and potentially border on a violation of our biographies of living persons policy. --Kinu t/c 07:57, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
These edits are not acceptable edits to Wikipedia and will not be added to the article. The encouragement of what amounts to organized vandalism on the part of the GISWHES organizers was a poor choice of challenge. GorillaWarfare (talk) 18:23, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
I've redacted the above edit and another recent one by another account (which hadn't edited in years) as painfully transparent attempts to satisfy the demands of this "item" by shoehorning this information somewhere on Wikipedia. I don't see actual and reasonable contributors to Wikipedia participating in these shenanigans, so I doubt full-protection of this talk page is warranted or prudent at this time. --Kinu t/c 21:52, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
Agreed. The current semi-protection of the talk page should be sufficient. However with over 600 teams involved in this GISHWHES thing full protection of the page itself should be kept in place for the duration as we only dealt with about a dozen or so users last night. There are literally hundreds waiting to vandalize the page in the same manner. Gateman1997 (talk) 21:56, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
After some correspondence with the GISHWHES team, this challenge has been replaced with one that does not involve Wikipedia. Though this might mean that unprotecting the page would be a safe choice, I have not done so because I'm not sure how far the GISHWHES folks have gone to inform participants of the change. I think it might be wise to leave the current protection in place. GorillaWarfare (talk) 14:32, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Agree with this sentiment. While they may have changed the task no everyone may know about it. Gateman1997 (talk) 17:40, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi there! Please add a section underneath Career:

==Always Keep Fighting== (or: ==Philanthropy==)

In March 2015, Padalecki launched his Always Keep Fighting campaign through Represent.com. His first campaign raised funds for To Write Love On Her Arms, which supports people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. The cause is particularly close to Padalecki, who has been candid about his own struggles with depression.[1] For the second campaign in the Always Keep Fighting series in April 2015, Padalecki partnered with co-star Jensen Ackles to release a shirt featuring both of their faces, to benefit their newly formed joint charitable fund. Over 70,000 shirts were sold.[2][3] Most recently, Padalecki launched a third campaign selling a further 40,000 shirts.[4]

During San Diego Comic-Con International 2015, more than 6,000 fans surprised Padalecki at the Supernatural panel by holding up candles for him, after having revealed his battle with depression earlier in the year.[5]

Suggested Edit 3/21/2018

I think this sentence is worded strangely. Here is the original. "Padalecki proposed to in front of their favorite painting, "Joan of Arc", by French realist Jules Bastien-Lepage at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in October 2009."

I believe that it sounds better written like this. "Padalecki proposed to GEN in front of their favorite painting, "Joan of Arc" by THE French realist Jules Bastien-Lepage at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in October 2009"

Two tiny changes but i felt that they were necessary. Do with it as you please haha. Enteryourimagination2036 (talk) 14:12, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

I Chose Life: Stories of Suicide & Survival

In November 2015 Jared sat down with filmmaker, Jacqui Blue, and did an interview for her documentary addressing the suicide crisis. Jared and Jacqui were connected through Tracy Pellegrino, wife of Mark Pellegrino, who plays Lucifer on Supernatural. Tracy was directing a feature film that Jacqui was a production assistant on in March of 2015, the same month Jared launched his Always Keep Fighting campaign. The I Chose Life: Stories of Suicide & Survival documentary heavily features Jared and was officially released May 10, 2020. 2605:E000:1705:546D:1DD2:E35C:2373:BC43 (talk) 20:44, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
