  • JariGari (Ginger) -- no inbound links to redirect page. — Lomn | Talk / RfC 06:32:31, 2005-09-04 (UTC)
    • Delete but look again - there are two incoming links - norse dwarves and brazilian cities, both obviously links to empty pages. I suggest removing the redirect which you reinstated. --DannyWilde 06:47, September 4, 2005 (UTC)
    • Sigh. First, having no incoming links is not a reason to get rid of a redirect. See #keep #2. Second, the incoming links are clearly not for ginger, and show that this term is ambiguous ==> this needs to be a disambig. Noel (talk) 14:34, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Let's review the history here. I made the jari page by mistake, because I thought that jari was the name of the ginger served with sushi. See Beni shoga for the rationale. Then I worked out that I was wrong, but for some reason I failed to move the page, so I put in a redirect to Gari (ginger). However, the redirect was bogus: nobody needs to be redirected from here except me. Jari actually means gravel in Japanese. Further, that redirect was redirecting people from the Brazilian cities and Norse dwarves page to the sushi ginger, so I took out the redirect, leaving a completely empty page. Then someone else, for some reason or other, put my mistaken redirect back, then this vote started. If someone wants to write a page about "jari" let them do it, but I don't know anything about Brazil or Norse Dwarves, so the only thing I can do is to ask you to please not put this link to gari back in the page. I'm sorry my mistake has exploded into such a fuss, there is nothing else I can do now but anyway the current redirect to gari is wrong and I am removing it.--DannyWilde 03:18, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
