Cohn statement[edit]

The "Jed York is a coward" statement from Cohn seems to be unbalanced and not appropriate without other context. I would suggest we remove it. —Noah (talk) 22:09, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should stay. It accurately reflects how most fans feel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.198.202.32 (talk) 06:30, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This is an encylopedic article about a living person, not a collection of fan's opinions. —Noah (talk) 00:53, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is not unbalanced. Lowell Cohn has been a sportswriter for over 40 years. He covered the Niners for the San Francisco Examiner for decades, and was one of the top columnists. He is well respected, and what he offers is excellent content because many sportswriters are so afraid to upset an owner, they will not report how they truly feel for fear they will be locked out of interviews for future stories. Cohn is one of the few reporters who has been around long enough, he can make a pointed statement without fearing a backlash from an owner who he is criticizing. In fact, Cohn wrote that article after he addressed Jed York at the press conference after he made the famous Thanksgiving Day tweet criticizing the Niner's coach after a loss. Cohn said it right to Jed's face that he felt is was a cowardly move, and that his readers were almost unanimously in agreement with his view. Jed, who is much younger than Cohn, responded, "Thanks for the advice, Lowell. I will keep it in mind." It was a smug and disrespectful comment from Jed. Cohn has been covering the Niners before Jed's parents owned the Niners, and while he was still in diapers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kippcharlton (talkcontribs) 00:08, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an audio file of an interview of Jed York after he fired popular coach, Jim Harbaugh, by the radio station that broadcasts the Niner's game. Jed tells fans to hold him accountable if the firing did not work out. I think this cite should be added in the paragraph about his firing of Harbaugh. It is the paragraph that ends with cite number 11. I would add Jed York has asked the fans to hold him accountable if the Niner's stumble after he fired Jim Harbaugh, which is exactly what is happening this season. Yet Jed York is not talking to the media currently so how can the fans hold him accountable.

Okay, it's not an article on quantum field theory, but...[edit]

"It has been reported that York and Harbaugh had a clash in the personality department."

"... [A] clash in the" what?

Is there a knowledgable editor for this who's capable of writing in a grown-up fashion? Good grief. Rt3368 (talk) 15:17, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Did Jed York write this? This entire paragraph reads as an opinion piece, not an encyclopedia entry.

"Harbaugh's childish behavior on the sidelines of games drew such scorn from NFL fans and media, York had no choice but to fire him. Moreover, Harbaugh's stubbornness to keep Greg Roman (who was causing the 49ers offense to play poor) also led to Harbaugh's firing." Tonisama (talk) 00:17, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
