I highly doubt that it's the first OHC. The more because a DOHC was developed before WWII

Read the listing again! "the first U.S. designed mass-produced overhead cam (OHC) engine". Duesenbergs had overhead cams (the big I-8s), but weren't exactly mass produced. The Kaiser engine was designed to be pumped out in the thousands. Only around 500 model J’s were built in eight years (between 1929 and 1937), and a hand full of SJ and SSJ models. Not mass production! Aircraft engines would have been the same if any OHC models were made IN THE US. There were European OHC engines mass produced well before the Kaiser. I did edit the entry to read "automobile engine" though. It seems the Rolls Royce Merlin and the Allison V-1710 were both OHC designs. Packard built a licensed version of the RR, the Allison was designed in the US. Farna 23:15, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Wills-St. Claire certainly had a mass-produced OHC engine, and it was built in the U.S. in the early 20's. Around 12,000 over 3 years, apparently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.129.158.107 (talk) 18:06, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
