CAT[edit]

Could someone tell me what a charge of terrorism is??? BigDunc 15:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed it to a more specific category. Gob Lofa (talk) 18:18, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Politicians convicted of crimes[edit]

Do you realise that Jennifer McCann is not an elected politician in the Republic of Ireland? Do you realise that has been convicted of crime, like Ian Paisley? She therefore belongs in the category. AusLondonder (talk) 00:06, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland's bigger than the Republic, and you're in breach of the one-revert rule for Troubles-related articles. Gob Lofa (talk) 00:08, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The article is not designated as having those sanction applying. She may consider herself Irish, however, she simply is not an Irish politician. To suggest so is to defy logic and fact. AusLondonder (talk) 00:26, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree, on all counts. Gob Lofa (talk) 00:29, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You disagree that the article is not designated? You disagree that Northern Ireland is constitutionally part of the UK? AusLondonder (talk) 00:40, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It certainly looks like a Troubles-related article to me. I don't know what you mean by "constitutionally" but I'm certainly aware of what state Northern Ireland's in. By the way, why do you describe McCann as British in the categories but then as Irish in the infobox? Gob Lofa (talk) 01:02, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My understanding was a notice should be placed on the talkpage. I have neither stated she is British, however she is a politician in the UK. It would be factually wrong to state she is an Irish politician.
A British politician is different than a member of a British political system. Murry1975 (talk) 20:59, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Murry1975 Do you view the situation in N Ireland as an example of imperialism? AusLondonder (talk) 14:58, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem with a United Ireland, but I find the consistent violation of WP:NPOV and basic facts by Irish republican editors seriously damaging to the concept of an encyclopaedia. Facts cannot be argued with. It is without dispute that Northern Ireland is currently a part of the UK. Politicians from Northern Ireland are NOT Irish. They just aren't. End of. Full stop. For categorisation purposes, they should not be listed as Irish AusLondonder (talk) 15:04, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'll ask you again: why do you describe McCann as Irish in the infobox if you believe she's British? Gob Lofa (talk) 15:14, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've said very clearly I don't believe she considers herself British. I do, however believe she is a politician in the UK, which makes her a British politician. I believe this on the basis of the Irish Nineteenth Amendment of the Constitution of Ireland and the fact that no credible authority anywhere in the world considers Northern Ireland part of the sovereign state of Ireland. This is a fact. Your arrogance, bias and edit-warring on such a trivial issues shows you unfit to edit on this topic. AusLondonder (talk) 15:21, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think that by edit-warring on an encyclopaedia you can wish away the facts? Do you think it makes a United Ireland more possible? If anything the intransigence and arrogance of republicanism puts off moderate voters in the North. AusLondonder (talk) 15:25, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't answer my question. Gob Lofa (talk) 15:29, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is clear you have trouble reading. Just to help you, this was my answer: I've said very clearly I don't believe she considers herself British. Have to disagree, she is a politician in th UK , she is not a British politician, but if you can consuer it trivial, we should ask the wider community for a consensus and clarity on the issue. This coupled with the possible 1rr would be the best avenue. Murry1975 (talk) 20:03, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And for what its worth, I didnt read you mouthy comment first off, so if you cant be civil, trot on. Murry1975 (talk) 20:11, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, Goba isnt a republican....just thaught I might point that out. Murry1975 (talk) 20:20, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary sanctions[edit]

I am being "notified" repeatedly by a certain editor that discretionary sanctions apply to this page. Why is a notice not posted on this talkpage in the case? AusLondonder (talk) 15:06, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That I cant answer, really, the last warning I saw for a 1rr Troubles was on the Catholicism in the republic of Ireland article, whoch also was notice-less. So I dont know, but lets play it safe. Murry1975 (talk) 20:01, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
