November 2006

I think a citation is needed about the Cherokke Indian Descent. It is very doubtful. 203.171.95.32 10:17, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I added citation to that text. I'd actually seen the video where Jess explains her background. So I cited it, though not well, someone might want to do a better job. I dont usually edit articles.

What do you mean it is doubtful? We are not going to list what we think they are...we are going to list what they claim they are. You may not see Cherokee in Jess, but i dont think its impossible...but still, what comes from her mouth is the best source to rely on. --Raux 04:42, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

thats not always true. Take for instance Vanessa Minnillo she claimed in a magazine she was Polynesian instead of Filipino because she did'nt want people associating her with being Asian American.

Conclusion'

OK, I'm taking it on myself to bust this one. I'm not sure that Jessica herself knows that the word "Cherokee" means American Indian. But I know, and I know Jessica, so here is my justification: married Ivonny Elva Mauboy (06/07/1959) in 1985 in Sydney. Ivonny is Jessica's father's little sister, ie her auntie. Jessica's mother, Therese has both Aboriginal and Indian (ie Indian from the sub-continent) blood but no American Indian. On her father's side, Jessica is pure Timorese, that is West Timorese, from Kefamananu, NTT, Indonesia. So, as I said I will take it on myself to update this topic.````Baxter de Wahl````

Fair use rationale for Image:Jessicamauboy-journey.jpg

Image:Jessicamauboy-journey.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Too much Divas?

--144.138.47.6 (talk) 23:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC) I think there is too much information about the young divas on this page. Do we really need to know all the chart positions? This is Jess's page, If people want to find out more about the young divas, they can go to their page.

Image

i think the picture should be changed. i love jessica but i dont really like that particular photo. its the side of her face! i think a more frontal shot and longer shot would look wicked!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.220.210.38 (talk) 10:05, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

ok i might be being abit picky but i dont really like this picture either its way to dark! besides it has damien lieth in it aswell. it should only be of her —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.169.216.39 (talk) 12:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Request for Semi-Protecting Jessica Mauboy pages

Looking at the forums on Jessica's official site, a lot of fans are complaining how Wikipedia is no longer a reliable source for Jessica. On Been Waiting, there have been several FALSE singles, posted on the page on complete rumours alone. Here's a list of the false singles in order posted on the page.

  • Single 3. Empty
  • Single 4. To The Floor
  • Single 5. To The Floor
  • Single 6. To The Floor
  • Single 6. Used2B
  • Single 6. Let Me Be Me (very recent)

And there are definately more not included on this list. These could be obsessed fans who WANT that to be a single, but I believe they were good faith edits. Nonetheless, I would like to request that the following pages be semi-protected (so only established users can edit them):

  • Jessica Mauboy - The talk section above mine, that user posted part of his message on this page, and this page also gets infected with rumoured singles.
  • Jessica Mauboy discography - The false singles get added.
  • Been Waiting - I've listed the reason, false singles.

Awards

First of all congrats to Jess on 7 Aria noms. As a result of this i believe we should create a Jessica Mauboy Awards page because of her many awards and nominations. --124.180.6.36 (talk) 10:06, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

I disagree, she's far from earning a page.--The Rogue Leader 03:39, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, doesn't need a separate page. But she did win three Deadly Awards [1] today - if someone more au fait with the article could add that, that'd be great. :) Orderinchaos 10:48, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Influences

They're all great guys, but I'm pretty sure Ernie Dingo, Steve Irwin, Martin Luther-King & Adam Sandler aren't musicians - at least, not influential ones! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.250.5.247 (talk) 02:04, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Touchdowns

I know Jess scored a touchdown for her performance of Christina's Beautiful, but can anyone remember what other performance she got her second touchdown for? Cuz I know she got 2 from Mark that year. I wanna know cuz I put two touchdowns next to two of her performances and I wanna know if I put them both in the right place.

It's hard to find flaws in this article

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
    no problems here
    B. MoS compliance for lead, layout, words to watch, fiction, and lists:
well there seems to be some overlinking in the main article with "lead single" and "Snoop Dogg" wikilinked more than once; there are also terms that SHOULD be wikilinked like "live album", "choir", "Tamworth", "Los Angeles", "New York"
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    no problems here
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    no problems here
    C. No original research:
    no problems here
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    no problems here
    B. Focused:
    no problems here
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
    no problems here
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
    no problems here
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    no problems here
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
    no problems here
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
The inconsistency of wikilinking isn't a major problem, so it's a pass
