Reference number 2

Joshua 18:24 names Ha'Ofni as part of a list, without stating its importance. I presume this is what the article's author referred to as Gophna, but the verse in Joshua does not assert that Gophna was the "second most important" city in any sense. Please clarify. Apologies, I corrected the placement of sources. It was from the JMCC and the article Ophni also has it. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:40, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Roman name

If this was "the second most important city after Jerusalem" its Roman name should be part of the article. --Wetman (talk) 07:54, 20 March 2008 (UTC).

Reference number 5 mentions Gophnah and Ganefiyyah - the latter must be Arabic. So I assume it was Gophah, however there is also a possibility it was known as Ophni but that might be Hebrew. --Al Ameer son (talk) 18:14, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, now I believe it was called Cofna, as thats what is spelled on the Madaba Map where the town appears. --Al Ameer son (talk) 17:30, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
