Greetings. My apologies for having to fail this article but there is simply not enough content, per criteria 3 of Wikipedia:Good article criteria, i.e. broad coverage. For example, the articles does not cover the issues of transportation, education, government, or culture in Jifna. How does the town's economy function? What is the climate like in Jifna? These topics will require a lot of work, more than a week to justify a hold. I would urge you to look at the articles of Jerusalem or Bethlehem as examples of what a place article needs to cover. Per criteria 6, of Wikipedia:Good article criteria, you may want to consider adding more images to the article. As for the other criteria, your sourcing and in-line citations are fantastic, the viewpoint is neutral (fantastic), the prose works, and the article is stable. As you expand your article to include the subjects I suggest, expand your lead to summarize the new sections. The suggested articles should help you out with your work. Once you get the suggestions I have made done, you should have a Good Article, and I would urge you to renominate the article for GA. Chrisfortier (talk) 14:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, thanks for the advice on how to improve Jifna. However, would it be necessary to include all of those sections into the article of a village of about 1,400 people? I was basing the article on the GA of Ir Ovot instead of Bethlehem. (BTW, I was the main contributor to Bethlehem and nominated it a while back, still editing it extensively). Nonetheless, I will try to find some sources on Jifna's economy and government, but I'm afraid they might not be enough (stubby sections) due to the extreme lack of online sources for it. Jifna is probably just well-known for its history, apricots and religion. But, I must know, should I compare it to Bethlehem or Ir Ovot. Cheers! --Al Ameer son (talk) 19:45, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for working on Jifna. You ask a good question and in my opinion, as Jifna seems to look like a current village as opposed to Ir Ovot which seems to have very few if any residents. Ir Ovot does not seem to be a currently functioning village so I would urge you to use Bethlehem to guide you. As for materials to find, if they are not in the village proper, does something in the region serve the village? For example, with education, are there public or private schools that serve the children in the town? Where is the nearest airport? Are there any festivals or celebrations in the town that are notable? If there is a published book that includes such information, you might be able to use it, listing the ISBN number. Let me know if this helps. Best- Chrisfortier (talk) 03:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that does help! Yes there's a kindergarten in the town but high schoolers go to nearby Birzeit or Ramallah for their education. I found that in a source not used in the article (will add). I'm sure there's mentions of primary and secondary schools, I could probably find them.(Education section) There is an annual apricot harvesting festival and I believe an arts festival (Culture section). The nearest airport is in Tel Aviv I believe, not sure though. Nonetheless, I could find the road its on and if there are any bus stations. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on the government. I know its a Village Council and I know who the mayor is, but I have no info on the number of seats, elections or the political parties that have the ideological stronghold on the town's inhabitants. When I was editing Bethlehem, the municipal website provided about a third of the info for the article, including its municipal council, the Jifna website lacks that and seems unreliable for other aspects of the town. Anyway, thanks for the advice, I'll get the work done tonight or tomorrow and I'll continue to hunt for more info. Hopefully, I'll renominate the article in the coming weeks or sooner. Additions[edit]

I added an "Education" section, a "Culture/Festivals" section, an "Economy" section and an info segment on Jifna's access to the main road in the "Geography" section. --Al Ameer son (talk) 01:39, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added "climate" passage in the Geography section. I also added a map of Jifna's location and one of its ancient churches. --Al Ameer son (talk) 05:40, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
