The removed material is more than adequately sourced in two reliable sources and should be reinstated. There is no WP:BLP violation here, simply an attempt at whitewashing. Lard Almighty (talk) 15:21, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a note at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard to request input from other editors. And just to be clear, I'm not arguing that the content doesn't belong, just that there needs to be consensus that it does first, and that there is consensus regarding the wording when/if it is reintroduced to the article. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:30, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding consensus: look at the edit history. It is the subject who has been removing the info, editing as himself, then as at least one obvious sockpuppet that is now blocked, now an anonymous ip address. Several users: Jdcomix, Lard Almighty, K6ka and I have restored what seems to be well-sourced information (that I originally added). The same action by so many folks say there's pretty strong consensus that it should be there.
The subject of the article has previously been referred to OTRS to resolve any problems with the article. Toddst1 (talk) 17:23, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just to note that I am not the editor who added it in the first place, although I have tried to improve the wording. But it is clear that there has been a concerted attempt to remove it (including possible sock/meatpuppetry) starting with a user calling himself Jim Lawson who has not edited any other article.
This was a major episode in Lawson's career and I have no doubt it should be referred to without undue weight, and being faithful to the sources (Financial Post and Toronto Star). I have made edits to improve accuracy in that spirit. Lard Almighty (talk) 15:41, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Coming from the BLP/N ping. Content seems fine: Lawson would fall under PUBLICFIGURE, the accusations affected his career, and both sources (FPost and The Star) are RSes to cover BLP like this. The wording in Wikivoice makes it clear its accusations and thus appropriate. --Masem (t) 15:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Masem: Can you specify which version you are saying seems fine? This one, which was repeatedly added and removed, or this one, which was most recently added? -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:00, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The latter one. --Masem (t) 17:08, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's time to unprotect the article and for edgar to self-revert. Toddst1 (talk) 17:26, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:59, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
