Not neutral article[edit]

I added a pov tag. Its about a suburb of Damascus and there is nothing here about todays suburb. Its only focused on one thing that really should be a minor subject. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 21:05, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the POV tag is correctly placed here. Maybe {{::expand}} would be a better choice. History is not a minor subject at all. As Pearl Buck said: "If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday." Chesdovi (talk) 17:14, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article is not focused on what it should be focused on. Thats a pov problem. Even the first line: "historically a village on the outskirts of Damascus, Syria, is now a suburb of the capital" is problematic. It should say that its a suburb of Damascus, and then more detailed explanation in history. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 17:29, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think its okay as it is. Chesdovi (talk) 17:41, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't remove the pov tag until this article has been rewritten to a more general article about this suburb.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 18:18, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
For historically important towns/villages that are now absorbed into suburbs of a larger city, this phrasing seems common and appropriate. It's the phrasing we use for a lot of Parisian suburbs, for example. Essentially, "historically was an important city, is now a suburb of Paris". In many such cases, the historical content is really the main encyclopedic content, because any more recent content (post-absorption) generally is better covered on the main city's article. --Delirium (talk) 21:08, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"The old synagogue was converted into a school for displaced Arabs."[edit]

Look at this image that looks recent, it shows no trace of the synagogue being converted into "a school for displaced Arabs". --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 17:32, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I could not find anything about its status today. If you can, please add. Chesdovi (talk) 17:41, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Golan may not be part of Syria, but Jobar is. Chesdovi (talk) 12:36, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New references[edit]

For anyone who wants to work on this and the Jobar Synagogue articles, here are the references I could find on the web:

Most of these have the Jews of Syria as a main theme, so they can be used in any corresponding articles.

This is all what I had the time to do. Further searching might return some better sources. Regards, -- Orionisttalk 18:20, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

War[edit]

This article: http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2014/09/syria-regime-attack-jobar-control-opposition-rebels.html says that fighting in Jobar is important for how much the electricity will be on in central Damascus. Does that belong in a wikipedia article? ArthurDent006.5 (talk) 01:06, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
