  • Took a bit of digging did this one. The chap(ess) who created the page at cairogang.com posted on rootsweb on 5 June 2010 [1] asking for info on Hardy, and posting what he/she had discovered at that point. This includes several phrases that appear in the Wikipedia article 27 March 2010. So I think it is the cariogang article which copies from Wikipedia, not the other way round. I've removed the csd and copypasta tags, but left the rest of your comments. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 14:50, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Amendments[edit]

Improved the article by adding some citations. Also altered the section on the Dublin Castle shootings which remain a mystery so to say with certaintly the prisoners were 'executed' is historically inaccurate, that they were killed under disputed circumstances is the fairest way to put it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamrockawakening (talkcontribs) 23:37, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected the Bloody Sunday comments, there were 60-100 members of the Cairo Gang of whom 35 were targeted on Bloody Sunday and of whom only 6 were killed, it was in no way 'successful'Shamrockawakening (talk) 10:29, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Took out all allegations that Hardy was in any way involved in the killing of the captive terrorists on Bloody Sunday, there is no suggestion whatsoever by anyone that this was the case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamrockawakening (talkcontribs) 17:47, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-neutral (NPOV) and original research (OR)[edit]

Just a heads up that I've added an NPOV box to the article and an OR box to the worst-offending section. The OR section seems largely dedicated to defending Hardy's character and actions, which seems inappropriate for Wikipedia (besides being OR as far as I can see).

It is worth noting that the two individuals with the most edits on this article, Shamrockawakening and Goolcap, have a clearly stated bias—the former describing Hardy's actions in Ireland as "heroic" and Irish victims of Bloody Sunday as "terrorists", and the latter describing the IRA as "mass-murdering terrorists intent on ethnically cleansing Irish Unionists from their homeland by terror and murder". This is only important inasmuch as these viewpoints have likely informed the implicit tone and viewpoints of this article. 94.157.159.239 (talk) 15:06, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
