Discussion moved from article to talk page[edit]

I moved the below text from the main article to the talk page with this edit. Discussions such as this are, I think, more appropriate here. U+003F? 08:10, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is where the "facts" in the books diverge.
Hamilton joined Brentford in July 1900. Had a spell with Leeds City. Returned to Brentford in July 1907 for five seasons. Moved back to Bristol City as reserve trainer then as war time manager of Bristol City. Became a newsagent in Bristol and died there in October 1931.[1]
or the alternative "facts".
Hamilton joined Leicester Fosse in September 1900. Moved to Watford in April 1901. Had a season with Wellingborough in 1902–03. Joined Fulham in summer 1903 becoming assistant trainer in 1904 and trainer in 1908. Moved to Bristol City as reserve team trainer in 1910 replacing George Hedley as manager from May 1915 to August 1919.[2]
Is anyone able to clear up this dual set of "facts" from two respected books on football history ? The Brentford team photographs in the Brentford – Complete Record book do not include any Hamilton in the years 1900 to 1912.
It would seem that the "other" John H "Jock" Hamilton was born in Edinburgh, played as a centre half for Leith Athletic in 1906, then briefly with Brentford. Joined Leeds City to play League football 21apps in 1908. Returned after one season to Brentford and finished his career at Swansea Town.[3]
