Joffre's army roles[edit]

The cited book by Mardon and Mardon says Joffre was commander-in-chief of the allied army from 1915-1917, but is that true? According to Joffre's wiki page, he resigned as Marshal of France on 26 December 1916. It seems unlikely he'd have anything to do with the allied army in 1917.

I also didn't find any other references to Joffre being commander-in-chief of the allied army, though I only did a cursory web search. He was certainly commander-in-chief of the French army.
