Death?[edit]

The death of John Bell Young at his Vermont home in April 2017 has been reported on social media. So far, this is not confirmed by reliable sources. ReverendWayne (talk) 00:58, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be at least a semi-credible source. http://slippedisc.com/2017/07/well-known-us-pianist-died-alone-with-his-dog/ MisterCSharp (talk) 10:57, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
His death certificate plus a statement by his sister confirming his death were submitted to the judge in Valentina Lisitsa's libel suit against Young. The judge has accepted these documents as proof of Young's death. Time for a rewrite[edit]

This article seems to have primarily been written by the subject, who is apparently now deceased. Many of the references lead to first-party sources which is out of compliance with Wikipedia's sourcing policy. It’s time for a clean-up, including the removal of self-promotional material and POV, which I will be endeavoring to undertake in the coming days and weeks.MisterCSharp (talk) 12:28, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mental illness, etc.[edit]

I removed the section concerning Young’s “mental illness” and bullying. The former hasn’t been officially attested to, at least in any reputable publication that I’m aware of. The latter was apparently true enough, but again needs to be verified by a reputable publication. (I hesitate to qualify Lebrecht’s blog post as such for a lot of reasons.)CurryTime7-24 (talk) 21:54, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
