All pictures need to meet the image use policy. TheAE talk/sign 01:29, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I took a photo with my phone (of my TV) and his ponytail is showing. Idk how to edit it in though. I was trying to post it here and let somebody else edit it in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1Edits1 (talkcontribs) 18:14, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PONYTAIL[edit]

Is mention of the ponytail notable enough for the article. It seems to be a growing urban legend.

Image Section[edit]

I deleted this section because it was entirely based on someones opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.205.147.35 (talk) 08:01, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously[edit]

A nerd who has never played a sport in his life gets to question the playing time of a NFL player? Does he realize how special you have to be to be in the NFL? Starting at least three years in high school and college. This joke didn't play in high school or any other sport get him OUT. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.180.61.194 (talk) 22:15, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I know John well.. John never played football in high school or college. He was a great reporter in high school and college but he never played sports —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.109.227.182 (talk) 23:55, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Comment: Change name of article to "John Clayton (sportswriter)"[edit]

It seems to me that John Clayton is mis-labeled by the title of this article as "sportscaster" while the description "sportswriter" seems more appropriate. He's spent a good chunk of his career as a newspaper writer and even with ESPN a good deal of his contribution comes as a writer (mostly for ESPN.com). I realize he does a fair amount of television and radio, but it seems that the writing underlies all of that. Please let me know what you think about this proposed change. — DeeJayK (talk) 17:29, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Just made the switch. Terence7 (talk) 05:21, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May 11 birthdate[edit]

Was a source ever found for that? Because I kept seeing it get readded in the flurry of his death, yet even as everything calmed down I don’t see a source for it specifically. I would’ve thought someone would’ve placed it in the prose but there’s no reference note--CreecregofLife (talk) 06:04, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pittsburgh Press[edit]

I think it's dubious that he started at Pittsburgh Press when he was 17 and in high school. I think it was mixed up with The St. Mary's Daily Press, where he said he launched his career at 18.[1] I will remove it.—Bagumba (talk) 10:14, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Steel City Sports staff writer[edit]

His being a staff writer at Score! Pittsburgh looks like it was lifted from Wikipedia, where it had existed unsourced at least since September 2016. Sources from after that time are likely WP:CIRCULAR references that should not be used.—Bagumba (talk) 00:08, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Similarly, I also removed the supposed beat writer he was replacing when he reported Shouldergate.—Bagumba (talk) 05:37, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
