The result of the move request was: move to John Lindsay (Liverpool F.C.). It seems accepted that the correct name of this individual is Lindsay. However, the page obviously cannot be moved to John Lindsay. Absent any disambiguation conventions by the Football WikiProject, I'm going with the suggested name of John Lindsay (Liverpool F.C.). -- tariqabjotu 10:05, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

John Lindsey (footballer)John Lindsay (footballer) – "John Lindsey" appears to be a spelling error. The sources in the article, 11v11 and the official Liverpool FC site all name him as "John Lindsay". I've moved the article that was present at "John Lindsay (footballer)" to John Lindsay (footballer born 1924), as that one had a birth date in the article. I can't find one for this particular player, hence why I'm requesting this particular move. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 08:19, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please read my nomination statement for the bit about the target. And if you're going to strongly oppose, please suggest a better name, because the existing one is totally inaccurate. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 07:57, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd be perfectly happy with that, if there was any kind of precedent for doing that particular disambiguator. :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 06:56, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is, we use nationalities, which is usually birth countries. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 09:21, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've now redirected John Lindsay (footballer) to the disambig page, as there are actually several players of this name. Lukeno's case is made that this player's name is "Lindsay", so a move is required. Barring anyone tracking down his birthdate, I may suggested John Lindsay (Liverpool F.C.) as that appears to have been his most noteworthy success. It's not perfect, but nothing will be.--Cúchullain t/c 21:40, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd be happy with that as well. I'm not bothered about the exact location, as long as the surname is spelt correctly! Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 21:45, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to John Lindsay (Liverpool F.C.) as that's the spelling of his name and "Liverpool F.C." is a reasonable and more concise disambiguator than "footballer born in Cardenden". --B2C 05:51, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to John Lindsay (Liverpool F.C.) - I believe we should try to disambiguate by nationality when that is possible, in this case both footballers are Scottish so the second best option would be year of birth. As this player's year of birth of unknown, we cannot use that either, and B2C's suggestion is a good and concise disambiguator. Mentoz86 (talk) 08:02, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
