– I am suggesting these article name changes for relevance. The current John Mateer article is a stub about a poet whereas the article for John Mateer (musician) has exponentially more traffic (John Mateer (musician averaging 38 views per day this year — whereas the John Mateer article receives about 1 view a day). The article for John Mateer also remains a stub while the article John Mateer (musician) has been developed further. Furthermore, the subject of the current John Mateer article is solely a poet — making the disambiguation of “poet” very appropriate for this subject. However, the subject of the John Mateer (musician) article is a filmmaker and businessperson as well — with his musical career being only one aspect of hi biography.

For these reasons, I suggest moving the subject of the current John Mateer article to the new title “John Mateer (poet)” and moving the John Mateer (musician) article to the “John Mateer” title — respectively. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 18:22, 11 May 2023 (UTC) Support - I guess this goes without saying, but figured I might as well include it for the sake of formality. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 19:01, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No need to support own proposal In ictu oculi (talk) 07:45, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination and would alternatively support creation of the John Mateer disambiguation page that would list John Mateer (poet) as well as John Mateer (musician). —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 19:47, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "John Mateer is" but no opinion. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:44, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
John Mateer is — that result would be more accurate as it is a search performed under the “all” tab.
When discussing the level of notability of a musician against a poet.. I’d imagine conducting a search specifically under the “books” tab would present a bit of a bias.
    Don’t you think? 4theloveofallthings (talk) 07:55, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support 1st, oppose 2nd and create a disambiguation page at the base name. Not sure that there is a primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:12, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Upon researching further, there is also a rising college football player in Washington with the same name. So this discussion might end up just repeating itself at a later date should we declare someone the primary subject. So, I would completely support the disambiguation page suggestion. 4theloveofallthings (talk) 19:11, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
