Did Walker live in England?[edit]

The article now either contains a funny misdirection, or has a severe deficiency. It describes how Walker was born in New York, and then with his family moved to California; where in 1959 the family moved again, to Inglewood, California. Then, there is lots of texts of his career, including an "exploratory visit" to UK in 1965, followed by several live performances, new record contracts, and a great popularity in that country. However, the article does not state that Walker ever moved to or lived in the UK on a permanent basis.

The next definite thing about where Walker actually lived is a notice that in 1986 he finally moved "from England to San Diego". Both this formulation, and the description of his career, seems to imply that Walker indeed was a resident in England for a number of years - possibly from 1965 to 1986. On the other hand, a formal reading of the article only indicates that he lived in Inglewood during that time, making some excursions to the UK. (There is another formal possibility - that he spent 21 years on "an exploratory visit" - but that is ridiculous. Even top artists reside somewhere between their tours; and 21 years forms a substantial part of a life.)

I definitely think that something about his residency in the missing 21 years should be added. Did he have a split residency, having one home on each side of the Atlantic; were he for numbers of years actually a registered permanent resident of the UK; where in the UK did he live? Should he even be dubly categorised, adding something like "British musician of American extraction" to the categories? (I absolutely do not mean that he should be removed from any "American musician" category. He began and ended both his life and (seemingly) his career in the States.) As I understand it - from reading the biography No Regrets - he was based in the US throughout the 1960s and most of the 1970s. Although he worked mainly in the UK, he could not live and work in the UK on a permanent basis at that time, because of the limitations of his work permits and visas. However, he did live in London for a time in the late 1970s and early 1980s, before returning to live in the US permanently in 1986. It should be possible to clarify the text along those lines. I do not think he should be categorised as a "British musician". Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:56, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Virus warning[edit]

My virus scanner tells me John Walker's official website tries to install a Trojan horse on my computer. What shall I do? Remove all references to John Walker's website? It will be quite an operation. Sijtze Reurich (talk) 07:57, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting us know. I've now updated the official website address. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:34, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Underground Releases[edit]

I have updated the article with the 'underground releases' section which was erroneously appended to the John Maus born in 1980. The section had been flagged since June of last year, yet no bright spark had thought that a guy born in 1980 COULD NOT have been releasing material in 1984 (unless he was EXTREMELY precocious!). I apologise for the exasperated tone, but you even have to SCROLL PAST the personal info section to GET to the discography! I mean SURELY it's not beyond the wit of man to realise it's been erroneously appended…?! (Evidently it is, because the erroneous section has stuck around for almost a YEAR; has NOBODY visited the John Maus the younger's entry in all that time…?! I can't believe THAT…).

I don't know too much about 'em (as evidenced by the fact that I referred to John Walker as "one HALF of the Walker Brothers" on John Maus the younger's talk page (hey they're my mum's era, not mine - I seem to recall her telling me once she had a bit of a thing for John…) but I DO know they had more success over here than they did back home, and they were part of the two-way 'British Invasion' movement of the mid-'60s, when bands like The Stones, The Who and The Kinks tried to break the US… — Preceding unsigned comment added by Margolotta (talkcontribs) 06:27, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea whether the other John Maus had any involvement with these records - but I do know that they are nothing to do with this John Maus (Walker), so I've removed the list. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:00, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
