Red links[edit]

This page has far too many red links.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 06:01, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

I have followed the precedent of the most authoritative source, History of Parliament Online, which differentiates between John Ashtons by means of a numeral. N.B. HoPO uses Assheton, not Ashton or de Ashton. Both the National Dictionary of Biography and the James Pedigree (Ashton Connection) use de Ashton. In the absence of a consensus, I'm going by the majority spelling. Johnroashton (talk) 18:25, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Marriages[edit]

The History of Parliament Online website only mentions a third wife. Most reliable sources including "Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies of England, Ireland and Scotland" suggest he married firstly Jane, daughter of John Savile, of Tankersley in Yorkshire by whom he had several sons and daughter, and then had a further son with Margaret (or Mary) Byron. I find no other mention of Isabel Kirkby other than this page.
