A while ago, I saw the film "Kiss of the Spider Woman" (a Brazillian American Film) It was directed by Argentine-born Brazilian director Héctor Babenco and starred William Hurt & Raull Julia. It was set in a jail with a number of other characters, one of these characters was a very effeminate transvestite who liked to dress up like a woman and put on a show for the rest of the male inmates. I am certain that this character was acted by Johnny Depp, because he was so outrageous and 'pretty' that I took note of who the actor was. However I could be mistaken, so if this can be verified by some one else who knows the film, I would appreciate it. This could also be added to Depp's film credits. We don't usually include each time that someone builds a statue or the like. When the film with Emir Kusturica gets closer to production or hits the main trade papers, it will be included. And the reports are being attributed to CNN? Look at this [2] The page says CNN but the URL is "angelfire.com". Check out the spelling and grammar mistakes. Not exactly what we hope to read from a CNN reporter. Keep reading the article and without explanation it switches to discussion of British cavers in Mexico. A little odd. Now check out this [3] This is the genuine CNN article about the cavers. The Johnny Depp death story has been put on the front of it so that it looks legitimate at first glance. That link is a blatant and obvious forgery and attempting to use it on wikipedia should simply be treated as vandalism (albeit we are not the target); anyone who added this in good faith is probably not skillful enough to edit wikipedia at all. Add Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Though there is a warning in the edit page that says to do not add this film because it only has been announced, I think is time to add it because Disney had even put a release date in its movie page which is May 20, 2011 and if you enter the article Pirates of the Caribbean (film series), you can check a verifiable source that says they will begin shooting this film on June 7th and finish on November, so I think the film is in pre-production. The bottom line is that we do not add films to the table until they have entered some active phase of production. Films in development or pre-production aren't included. Based on what speculation? That isn't a valid description of John Waters' work, nor is it a valid description of the film, which was a parody of movie musicals. Not sure why it doesn't make sense to you. Yeah, he was a star, but he was not considered an A-list star who could write his own ticket until the success of the Pirates films. He also became a very highly nominated and award-winning star. Look at the filmography. There were a smathering of nominations and wins - 12 by count for all the films prior to the Pirates films, and it exploded after that. 13 for the first Pirates film alone, including first Academy Award nomination. In the thirth paragraph "Dean Corso in The Ninth Gate" is mentioned as an example of a real life figure but Corso is a purely fictional character based on "El Club Dumas" protagonist , a novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. I think there should be information on Johnny Depp's salary, the guy is making $100 million a year[5], which is about $20 to $44 per film. This information should be on the article. It should be noted that Johnny Depp also gets $3 million up front just to sign the film contract, thats non-refundable. Even it the film never happened, he still has to get paid. It is dam shame we have actors that are in the business to take as much money they can get and get away with it. Lest there be any confusion: I was not aware of the editor who apparently removed this a month ago. But I am the one who removed it today. This article is about a person, not the Depp name. It is contrary to WP:PT policy.

Family names come from many sources, and we all learn to discount them. There are (I am told) plenty of Italian surnames that are simply lewd. Nice catch! One might also question the phrase "French Huguenots"—as if there's another kind of Hugenot? Since I was unable to verify whether the Mirror (not the most reliable of sources) got it wrong or reported accurately what was said on the program, I've been bold and removed the offending sentence. Honestly, how helpful to understanding Mr. Depp is it to know that he might have Huguenot ancestry 20 generations back? Comanche Adoption

Wikipedia supposedly an unbiased information source, but this section is just full of it. Tracing African and Native American ancestry is very hard because they were either kept as property or hunted down like animals. If you know US history, it was better to be called full white than say you are part Indian and be classified as 2nd class citizen. Nowadays society allows more freedom to express your heritage, but it is sad to see unjustified citations, biased writing, and unfounded references just because Depp claims to be part Indian. If he is proud of it and shows his Indian heritage tattoos and helps promote Native American ideology then he is Indian by spirit, if you know the concept of spirit and heart as the Native Indians do then Depp is definitely part Indian. The one who spreads peace and knowledge of his own culture/tribe is a true brother to the land and his people, while the ones who shuns him for his actions/intentions is no better than the people whom annihilated his ancestors. The new movie Depp/Tonto are equals with the Lone Ranger, unlike old movies and shows Tonto was taking orders from the Lone Ranger and portrayed as inferior to the white man. Also it is not like he is claiming to be royalty or from an extravagant bloodline, so why all this hate? I still feel it is very biased, but at least I removed that unfounded source stating that Native Americans Indians think Depp is ignorant and insensitive, it was not even in the stated source. Yes I agree. The whole section's citations from E-online and Entertainment Weekly are gossip sources at best. The slant is a pre-viewing of the film slant, so perhaps more sources can be found now that show that Depp's portrayal was not detrimental to Native American values. Having seen the film, and thinking the same thing about the bird, it all made sense after watching the movie. When the lone ranger visited the tribe, they explained Tonto's mental illness, and then everything made sense. To get back on point, if anything the sources up to this point have quoted Depp as saying his Grand Grandmother was part Indian, so in good faith this should be accepted, Wikipedia should not be a place for gossip, especially if it goes against what the sources are actually reporting. The "gossip" is his "guess" at having ancestry. These things are not vague or mysterious to people in the communities in question. There are traditional ways of dealing with these claims. Who is Native is up to the tribe the person claims; the question is whether the tribe claims them. As sourced in the article, professional genealogists from all the tribes he has variously claimed have checked, and he has no Native ancestry. What he has is some African-American ancestry. The tribes he claimed are more documented than non-Natives of the same period. They kept excellent records and still keep them. It is very common for "white" people with Black heritage to claim Native instead; he may well have been told this by his family, but they were misinformed. It has been documented and sourced that Depp has two lines of African American heritage, and zero Native. The tribes Depp claimed ancestry from have actually kept excellent records. His ancestors aren't on them, and none of the tribes claim him. It's precisely because of anti-Black racism that many "white" people who are the descendants of Black slaves chose to alter their stories to hide the Black ancestors, especially as romantic stereotypes of Natives have become popular among spiritual seekers. Similarly, there are contemporary African-Americans who believe they have Native ancestry, when they actually have none, because a recent ancestor decided they'd rather falsely claim to have Native ancestors than have to tell their kids that grandma was raped by a white slaver.
