CITATION NEEDED![edit]

Do we really need all of these CITATION NEEDED notices all over the page? It seem every other sentence you need a citation. Stop it. Yes, we probably do need all those notices, because so much of the article cites nothing at all.
On that note: One citation for the item about paying every employee 50 cents for every hour ever worked at Jordan's (when Berkshire Hathaway bought Jordan's) is: http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/news/oct1199.html -- a URL that is already cited in the very same paragraph (in the context of the purchase).
Another would be: http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/1999htm.html

The lack of citations is a serious issue, as it reads like someone could've just pulled all the info out of thin air. And what about witness reports? So I would have to write a book so that I could cite the book, to talk about what I know? Everyone in Massachusetts if not all of New England knows this stuff. Sales tax[edit]

"No sales tax" applies only if you live in NH, which has no sales tax, or take delivery of the furniture on-site. I once bought a mattress at the Nashua store to be delivered to an apartment in Boston and was charged Mass. sales tax due to the destination. So should that really be considered an "attraction?" That sentence should be changed. Almost everyone who lives in the area knows that NH has no sales tax, so it doesn't need to be mentioned. IMO, that sentence borders close to advertising. Peter Tangney 16:51, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tenses[edit]

The whole article shifts, apparentley randomly, between past and present tense, sometimes even in a single sentence. It's pretty much just ad copy, and very poorly written ad copy at that. In fact, the article should probably be simply deleted, unless someone can come with an encyclopedic reason for keeping it. As it stands, it's a blatant but clumsy advertisement.


It's paraphrased from the Jordan's website, probably without their permission. If you go to the Jordan's website you see this text almost exactly the same - only here on Wiki someone tried to put it in their own words, making it look like sloppy ad copy.

NPOV - Promotions[edit]

The promotions section could use some cleanup. The language is of disputable neutrality, giving off a negative tone. Examples: "...relentless print, television, and Internet banner ads...", "The shill was the same as that described above...", "Tatelman hit the television airwaves and Internet rollover/banner/pop-up ad circuit again...", etc. 24.61.218.112 (talk) 07:04, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Names[edit]

I came here looking for info on the Red Sox promos and had no idea who Tatelman was until reading the whole entry. Most people (at least in New England) wouldn't know the Tatelman name if you asked, but they would know who Barry and Elliot are. Shifting between two first names and one last name creates confusion within the article. I would like to rewrite everything after their split to refer to Eliot mostly by his first name and shift the weight of the promotions on Jordans. Eliot is simply the spokesperson for the company, and isn't personally responsible for the results of their promotions.
