Which name should we use for the title?[edit]

Hello everyone! I just wanted to open a conversation about this article, which I created a little while ago.

Although it's not really that big of a deal, I need some advice on the name I should use as a title: for now, I went for the "double-surname" format, as I thought it would be a good compromise. In fact, the sources I've cited all contrast with one another in providing the "correct" name: some stick to the same format as mine, others just go for "Hurtado", while other ones (including Soccerway and Worldfootball) only use "Cabezas".

Since I haven't got enough familiarity with the registration of double surnames, I'd really appreciate any type of help here!

Hi, according to what I've seen from the media coverage of the recent South American U-20 Championship both Jorge Cabezas and Jorge Cabezas Hurtado are used interchangeably, so I would be unsure about deciding on one or the other as the player's WP:COMMONNAME at this point. In my opinion it would be necessary to see how the English-speaking press begins to refer to him once they are in contact with him, but since the general practice is using the paternal surname (the first one) only, I think they will likely drop the maternal surname (the second one) and leave him as "Jorge Cabezas". Going off what CodeMars has said about the English press: The Athletic, Goal.com, Eurosport and kinda the BBC all use both surnames. As Oltrepier pointed out, Watford confusingly just use Hertado in their signing announcement (but both otherwise) - likely caused by confusion due to a different English tradition - with one BBC article quoting Watford doing the same. The article title should use both, I think, as should the text. Kingsif (talk) 09:13, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@CodeMars04 @Kingsif Right, let's keep it how it is at the moment, and then we'll see how it develops.
Thank you so much for the help! Oltrepier (talk) 09:41, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Gillingham FC (my burden in life) have signed him, and the club's web site announcement has him as Cabezas Hurtado, but social media as Hurtado. His own self-introduction sounds like Caza Hurtado (https://twitter.com/TheGillsFC/status/1753070701509067100). I have emailed the club and asked them to determine his preference and to announce it.or at least use it consistently. Kevin McE (talk) 10:41, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
