Untitled[edit]

For a start, let me assure you that I value the fact that there is a form of critical wiki surveillance. Therefore I welcome your questions.

  • It is proposed to delete this wiki article because it might be an autobiography. However, the subject, Joris Putman, has never seen this article nor the text.
  • Wiki principle nr 1: Verifiability:

All the information in the article can already be found on the internet, not to speak of a number of printed articles in newspapers and magazines. The goal of the article is to collect all the data together in one accessible place. The informations comes mainly from film/TV production organizations. I added to the article a list of trustworthy websites, like the International Movie Data Base, where the information can be found. (There are more):

  • Wiki principle nr 2: NPOV:

I have only gathered already available information from various sources and put it together to create one coherent wiki article. Nothing promotional or personal is added. The article is strictly neutral.

  • Wiki principle nr 3: No original research:

As I mentioned, I only gathered available information which matches the categories 'Film actor', 'Dutch film actor' etc. I did not invent anything new or original. I checked several wiki articles about other actors to remain in line.

  • Notability:

During the last years the media have published enough about this actor to consider him 'notable'. The most recent printed publications are an article in 'Weekend' nr.4/31-1-2007(www.weekend-online.nl) and 'De Woensdagkrant' 31-1-2007 (www.buijze-pers.nl.)

  • The picture is free of copyright. I made the text still more neutral. As far as I can see I followed the wiki regulations to the letter.

  • Please sign in before editing. So who are you if you are not Joris himself and how come you have never edited anything else on Wikipedia? Please create your user page to say exactly who you are and what your relationship is to Joris. The "Sources" section would be more impressive if you actually created some links! I have changed a few to show you how to do it. -- RHaworth 08:53, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is enough independent confirmation that this person is notable enough for an article, even if not in the present form. Leaving aside the rest of his career, he played a part for three years on a major long-running Dutch soap, roughly equivalent in popularity to Eastenders or Neighbours, and the equivalent actors on those or similarly ranking soaps certainly do rate articles. (The author BTW, as the User page does make entirely clear, is the subject's father, not the man himself). So I have removed the existing tags, and tagged it instead for a thorough cleanup, which I am perfectly happy to do myself, but not right this minute. HeartofaDog 15:16, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I should note that I have taken out most of the sources not because there is anything wrong with them as such but simply because a long list of sources in Dutch is prob not going to add much to an English-language article.HeartofaDog

Thank you for helping me out. Although I am a writer I fear that I am rather clumsy with writing on an internetsite. This sign-in and log-out thing doesn't work the way I intend, links won't get activated and it all takes a terrible lot of time because of lack of technical skills on my part. But I am still young enough to learn, I hope. I would like to put 1 removed film back on his list, because the title is English, an English spoken copy is available and it probably is his best performance as a child actor. The film is listed in the Dutch film database and was selected for the 1979 Cinekid filmfestival in Amsterdam. 6 minutes, black and white, and it really hit the audience. I will finish my user-page in order to make things as transparant as possible.Putman 11:02, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - it does take a little while to get the hang of it. There is always the option in the future, for whatever reason, of replacing some of the sources and material if necessary, so nothing is really lost. I do think, though, that sometimes less is more. As for "Pest", great. If you ever have any questions about Wikipedia generally, please do ask me on my user page - I am not an expert, but I have been here long enough to know at least some things! Best wishes, HeartofaDog 01:32, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. When I'm getting desperate I do know now where to find you. Putman 16:01, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
