Article undergoing heavy copyediting[edit]

I am removing much of this article because it is extraneous. The many ancestors and descendants of the subject should not be included in this article, as they are not directly linked to the achievements of the subject. Doggiewoggie October 6, 2007

The principal source for this article is its Spanish counterpart (See José Antonio Lacayo de Briones y Palacios). However, it was restructured for clarity and wikilinks were added. Some of the included material is only peripherally related to the subject of the article. Sections pertaining to descendents were omitted as being beyond the scope of this article; they might serve as the basis of another, e.g., "Lacayo (family)". J. Wikipedia is NOT the place to write your family history. There are blogs and other websites available for such purpose. Article should just focus on the individual. Who are you to judge what should or should not be included in this article about Lacayo de Briones? The Lacayo family is very large in Central America and all of its members enjoy reading about history, particularly if it is related to the family (ancient) origins. It does no harm to anybody to have this historical background and, as mentioned, members of the Lacayo family certainly enjoy it. Why should you get on the way?

Who are we to judge? who do we need to be? Wikipedia doesn't require editors to have special qualifications. Why should we get in the way? Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, with pages about individual topics. If you want to create a page of everything you think people will find interesting, make your own web site. Wikipedia pages are supposed to be about an article's topic, not a millennia-long exposition of the history of the town the person's ancestors came from several centuries before. If you think Wikipedia readers would be interested in the history of that town, and if you can cite sources for the information, then the appropriate place for the information is on a page for that town, not here. Ancient history of region[edit]

While there may be a place on Wikipedia for the kind of detail being provided on the history of the region around Briones, it is not appropriate for an article on a 17th century individual who happened to have Briones as a surname.
