If anyone disputes Croat origins.

Cattarinich = Katarinić.

Hope this'll be helpful. Kubura 12:53, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life[edit]

Here's the story that runs in the family regarding Joe Cattarinich.

Cattarnich's father was a hungarian sailor. He met a french canadian woman on a trip in Canada, married her and had child. When the sailor died in sea, the mother was left without revenue, and the hungarian family offered to take care of young Cattarinich. As a young man, Joe Cattarinich came back to the country where he was born. Legend has it that as soon as he set foot in the port of Montréal, he saw a very beautiful woman, and discretely followed her to the church. She went for confession, and Cattarinich did the same, and then asked the priest if he could be presented to the girl. They were presented, and eventually married. They had no children of their own, but when Mrs. Cattarinich's sister and her husband died prematurely (was it an accident? an epidemy? I don't remember), they adopted their three daughthers.

I don't want to put this up as is, because, well, I lack some names. I know one of the daughter's name (Rolande Vermette, it's her maiden name, but I'm not sure whether she kept it or not after marrying Lucien Chartrand). If anyone know more, it would be an interesting contribution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.10.183.72 (talk) 16:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the French page, and apparently he married Émelda Vermette —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.10.183.72 (talk) 16:22, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
