Untitled[edit]

The day he was captured was his great great niece Shana Lombardo's 11th birthday. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.2.211 (talk) 22:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Conviction Date[edit]

Here is an excerpt from the article:

"In August 1985, Lombardo was convicted of attempted bribery and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. His co-defendant, Williams agreed to testify against Lombardo, who was later charged with concealing mafia ownership of the Stardust Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, and for skimming over $2 million in unreported income during the period from 1974 to 1978."

Lombardo was not convicted in the Pendorf Trial in August of 1985. He was convicted on December 15, 1982. Also convicted was Teamsters president Roy Williams, mob associate Allen Dorfman, and two Teamsters officials. Dorfman was killed one month later while out on bail. There is speculation that Lombardo ordered his murder from the cozy confines of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago where he was being held until sentencing in March of 1983.

The August 1985 date was erroneous information that first appeared in The World Encyclopedia of Organized Crime by Jay Robert Nash, and now this wrong date has appeared all over the Internet and even in nonfiction books on organized crime. Nash is known for getting facts wrong all the time and for actually making up false information and putting it in his book in an effort to catch copyright violators. He is probably one of the worst researchers/authors out there. Anything he writes should be taken with a grain of salt in regards to accuracy. Lock & Key (talk) 19:02, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
