How loosely is loosely based?[edit]

Just seen part the film, end credits claim it's based on only just released (specially to the filmmakers?)/ previously/otherwise unaccessable transcripts of the real court trial, but there's an intro caption / disclaimer along the lines of being a true story but some events have been rearranged/conflated.
