Justice League America[edit]

The box says there were only 94 issues of Justice League America, but I know I have issue 101. It was around the time Artemis was wearing the Wonder Woman costume. Is 94 issues an error? Artemisboy (talk) 00:09, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some background[edit]

Comic Book Urban Legends at Comic Book Resources has some more information/clarification on the background to the creation and how the line-up came about. (Emperor (talk) 23:54, 20 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Editorializing and inaccuracy[edit]

Generally speaking, there's a lot of unattributed opinion and editorializing from the beginning of the article on. I took the liberty of removing the "C-List" characterization, since that's a rather debatable term to begin with, but there's a lot more work that needs to be done. For one thing, there's a lot of flat-out incorrect speculation with regards to the characterizations in the book. For one thing, Guy Gardner had been established as a "lout" long before Giffen and Co. got their hands on him (Steve Englehart had been using him for some time in the Green Lantern Corps title as nearly a flat-out villain, and he continued in that vein during the Legends series JL spun out of). Likewise, Captain Marvel's "new" personality was developed mainly by Roy Thomas, Black canary's new costume had first appeared in 1985, and the Giffen Dr. Fate series wasn't launched until months after his inclusion in Legends and the JL book. And Booster Gold was "earnest" and not greedy in his own book? Huh? Basically, the whole paragraph is inaccurate, and the reasons behind including various members are speculated on by the authors here, but are also not entirely accurate. (The diverse cast was in at least some respects chosen to represent the fact that the DC Universe was now a "shared" universe rather than a multiverse. (Necessitating characters from the former Earths-1, 2, 4, S, and the Fourth World.) There's a lot of work to do as far as grammar clean-up, as well. I will try to get started on this in the next week, but if anyone else wants to start pictching in and making this more encyclopedic, I'd be grateful.
