Article name[edit]

I have moved this article from KBCB-TV to KBCB. Consensus on both WP:NC#Broadcasting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations#Article_names is that the article name should reflect the actual call letters of the TV station. As can be seen here: [1] the call letters for this station are in fact KBCB. Any concerns regarding this topic would be best addressed here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations. —A 22:44, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well then how come KIRO-TV has it when it's an American station? Also you, yourself moved some TV stations with the suffix -TV.Pikachu9000 00:29, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please compare this page with this page. These pages are queries of the FCC database. Please note that KIRO is listed as KIRO-TV and KBCB is listed as KBCB. In case you don't know, the FCC is the government body in the United States that regulates broadcast stations, they are also the group that assigns call letters to those stations. For various reasons they assign some TV stations call leters ending with -TV, and others without anything past the basic four letters. Yes, it would be easier if the FCC made all TV stations use call letters ending in -TV like Canada does, but they don't. And yes, it might be easier if Wikipedia has a naming convention that mandated all US TV stations be listed as W/Kxxx-TV, but that would be technicaly false in many cases. So until the FCC changes the regulations on call letters, or Wikipedia changes the naming convention, I will continue to rename TV station articles to the correct name. If you have any further questions about this topic, please leave a note on my talk page, as it was by a fluke that I noticed this comment. —A 06:59, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
