Confusion between frequencies and licenses[edit]

1990: KLIF did not "move" from 1190 to 570. 1190 was sold and 570 was purchased and the call letters KLIF were transferred to the new property. Later: KFXR begins broadcasting on 1190 AM. Unless the frequency section is removed then the frequency shows the actual station. Call letters are just FCC designated names for the facility and can be changed with or without changing the format. Formats can change with or without the call letters changing. KLIF 1.190 AM was a music station in the 1970s. 209.102.211.121 22:17, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2001 "sale"[edit]

Capstar was acquired by Clear Channel in 1999 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Clear Channel, so the information about Clear Channel selling the station to Capstar in 2001 is erroneous. I believe that Clear Channel keeps the licenses in the names of its acquired companies for legal reasons related to ownership limits or for accounting reasons.

The cowboy1190 web site is currenty empty, which is usually what precedes a format change or the sale of a station.StreamingRadioGuide 09:25, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
