Updated Information From Another Source[edit]

My Name Is David L. Fiorella. I have some updated information that may help you about KZLA/AM & FM. 1980 is the year KZLA became into existance. Formally the station/stations was known as call letters KPOL/1540AM and KPOL/FM 93.9. Both stations were owned by Capitol Cities Inc. KZLA new call letters came into existance as KPOL; a good music station faded away after 35-years or so. KZLA/AM 1540 and KZLA/FM 93.9 simulcated fully from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday Thru Friday. The other part of the day the FM side was about a three minute delay from the AM side of the station operation. Both stations remained on the air until the AM side of station operation was sold to a Spanish language operation company. KZLA/AM became KSKQ/1540...Spanish language about 1988; I believe.

On weekends KZLA/FM and KZLA/AM 93.9 were a delayed simulcast completely from one another. Again both stations of KZLA/1540AM and KZLA/FM 93.9 were orinially owned and operated by Capital Cities Inc.

Format Change[edit]

I have been listening to KZLA for at least 15 years now and am very sad to see it go. They had great On-Air personalities and music which I love. They will be missed.

I was absolutely shocked when I turned on my radio to Country 93.9 KZLA and Michael Jackson was on. I have been a loyal listener for 25 years, I am truly heart broken. There is only one way to discribe how I feel "there's a tear in my beer". A great family just became another statistic, what a shame. We are going to miss ya'll!

Frank Vega (Covina)

I have been listening for a while now, too. It was a shock to me and my friends. I really miss KZLA and I just listen to CDs now. What a shame. Even the Webcast is cheap and has a poor quality stream to it.

What I don't get is that...[edit]

Why the LA area no longer has Country music on its regular dial and the Dallas/Ft. Worth area has 5 country stations?

Fair use rationale for Image:KMVN-FM.png[edit]

Image:KMVN-FM.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
