Picture

Not true. It is a terrible picture, and I'm not sure the whole band is in it or everyone in it is in the band, but it is related. However, a new picture is needed forthwith! U-Mos 20:03, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Removed 'Encounters'

I reverted to remove the 'Encounters' section, which was some guy's (badly-written) account of meeting the band. Aside from the numerous spelling, grammar and punctuation errors, the whole section failed to adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Nationality?

"Kaiser Chiefs, a British indie/britpop band from Leeds, was named after the Kaizer Chiefs Football Club (In south Africa I believe) because Lucas Radebe, a former member of the Chiefs, captained the team they all supported, Leeds United A.F.C."

Indeed they were named after he Kaizer Chiefs. I've since added this to the main article. (Peanut4 02:37, 22 September 2007).

Comparisons

Would it be correct to add a title on comparisons to other bands? Or possible influences? For example my friend and I believe they could be compared with the band Blur and possibly the Clash in their style. Ashfan83 22:18, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Origins of the name

I appreciate that there is a South African football team called the Kaizer Chiefs, and indeed Ricky Wilson has on record said that the band was named after the team; but I have read somewhere that they are named after a motorcycle - the 1935 Kaiser 'Chief' 750 cc Manx TT Works Racer, which was the one used in the track 'Saturday Night'. And this spelling is the same as the band's... which is the correct object of naming? Tomkeene 15:22, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Deletions

I think the "History" section should be deleted and rewritten. I would be very surprised if it wasn't written by a non-native English speaker. Examples: "being in the same class" = unnatural use of the gerund; "asked if they should MAKE a band" = foreign-sounding verb choice; "AT their respective fields" = should be IN; "which Ricky didn't know why they did that but" = bad grammar; etc. I would guess that whoever wrote this section is probably a native speaker of a Romance language. _________________________________________________________________________ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.178.231.139 (talk) 14:30, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

I deleted the genre "Post-Punk Revival". They're not a post-punk revival band, they couldn't have less in common with the genre. In fact, they are the antithesis of the "arty" post-punk movement...

how come

Why does "The Pooh Sticks" forward here?

Does the 90's britpop retro band The Pooh Sticks have some connection to these yarbles?

Because "The Pooh Sticks" refers here. And there's no mention of 'em in the article.

Post-punk revival?

I am a particular fan of old post-punk and new post-punk bands, but I really think Kaiser Chief's sound is more directed towards new wave...not because it has synthesizers (The Killers use synthesizers but manage to sound post-punk) but because it has sound that is remainder of the new wave/mod revival of The Jam (considering The Jam is one of the principal influences of Kaiser Chiefs). They themselves said that they played new wave on an interview, and even more...on their official myspace page they CONSIDER THEMSELVES NEW WAVE. Nuff' said. Indie rock?

I think the naming indie rock is inaccurate. The eighties-ish sound of Kaiser Chiefs is more like new wave, not indie. I suggest 'indie rock' to be changed to 'new wave'. The Dutch WP-article has this too. MrTroy 19:15, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm changing "indie rock" to "new wave". I've never read any review saying they're an indie rock band. There are lots of reviews, on the contrary, that refer to them as a new wave band. A few examples:

In the latter, Nick Hodgson says: "The Ramones wrote pop songs in a punk/new-wave style, which isn't too far away from what we're doing." --MrTroy 14:13, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm absolutly sure that this music is NOT Indie Rock, and even more sure that it isn't Art Rock! If you knew, for example, Arcade Fire you'd know "Art Rock". But this is more Pop as Art Rock. Should be deleted, don't you think so?

Where did the the descriptions "The band are influenced by alternative rock mainstream acts such as Nirvana and Alice in Chains" and "The group took inspiration from Led Zeppelin and American rock music" come from? The band have a very british alternative sound in my opinion, and bear absolutely no resemblance to US alternative bands or Led Zepellin! Orphaned references in Kaiser Chiefs

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kaiser Chiefs's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

'Category:Musical groups established in 1997'

The article 'Kaiser Chiefs' is categorized under . This is not supported by the text of the article (which doesn't even mention the year 1997), and the date given for the formation of the Kaiser Chiefs gives the bands formation date as 2000. Until some sources can be added to support this categorization, I will remove this category and replace it appropriately. --JoeyofScotia (talk) 14:08, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Can someone take a look at the band's timeline graph and fix it? There are black lines zigzagging off the page. Former name of Kaiser Chiefs

They came from a small village called menston in yorkshie, and some came from guiesley a small town a few miutes drive from menston. They attended st marys menston and some attended guisely fieldhead.
