Lazuli Changes

I changed Big Cy's name to Basil, because that was his name in KMP. I also said that on MM his name is Big Si, the correct spelling for it, NOT BIG CY! Also, I would change all the "dominate" male and females to "dominant" but I am out of time. -Cruise_meerkat not logged in

I know. I was going by what Meerkat Manor told me sorry and i know they call him Big.Si Big.Si cuz Basil is in the WW's. Kalahari meerkat Project

NOOO HIS NAME IS BIG CY —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.196.46.189 (talk) 22:25, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

No, it has been proven to be Basil. Cruise meerkat 22:31, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Confusion

Shouldn't the article Dominant Female and Male Founders be about the meerkats that started the group. The article should be named Current Dominant Females and Males as of July 2007. (((mitchlover11)))- not signed in

I am sorry for the confuzzleness ok, sorry Kalahari Meerkat Project

Starkies

Please Stop putting the following things: Rocket Dog as dominant female, J.D. as dominant male, Yousarrian as dominant male, and Starsky info. You have to go by what the KMP info gives you not Meerkat Manor.♥Mitchlover11 22:12, 6 August 2007 (UTC)♥

Rocket Dog is the dominant female. Padloper is the dominant male. Yossarian is dead/disappeared(I'm torn apart), and Starsky have De la Soul, Mozart, and Kinkaju in it for sure, no news on dominants. Cruise meerkat 02:35, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Kalahari Meerkat Group sent me a newsletter about the new website: friends of the Kalahari Meerkat Group. I now know all of the info you have gave me is true. I added a article on the website about the new addition. Thanks for all your help on Meerkat Manor info, and all your time you spent researching.Mitchlover11 00:51, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Shouldn't this be in the article somewhere?!

Rumors are flying once again, Ketamine is a male, people! To prove this, we should have the new KMP site in the article. http://friends.kalahari-meerkats.com Cruise meerkat 21:41, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Yah i put this on the website. Since it's like a "splinter" of the KMP it should be included!Mitchlover11 23:09, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Splinters

I removed Splinters from the groups list because KMP states that groups splinter frequently and it is quite common to spend a few weeks apart, such as the Whiskers did. Cruise meerkat 21:59, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Yah, the splinters are part of the Whiskers not a group. Since they reunite, it should not be on the list.Mitchlover11 23:10, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

"Groups Under Study"

I removed lost groups, since they aren't under study. Also, Lazuli have not gone missing. Cruise meerkat 22:06, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I think that should be on the list. They are on the website, and should be included.Mitchlover11 23:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

But they aren't studied anymore. Cruise meerkat 03:11, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes there not studied, but it is part of the website. Everything on the website should be on here.Mitchlover11 04:40, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

They are under lost groups. Maybe we could include a chart for the lost groups. Cruise meerkat 15:27, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

That would be a good idea. They need to be seperated from the groups that are under study.Mitchlover11 19:18, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Well they are, and if they arent, proof would be nice Cruise- Mango_Kat

Proof? Proof? Proof is in the article, just look at around at FMKP(not a typo). The Lazuli are listed there. If anything, the Whiskers have gone missing. They were forced out their territory by the Vivian and the Lazuli aren't around their new territory. Cruise meerkat 21:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok plz be nice*says calmly*- Mango_Kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.19.14.15 (talk) 01:55, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Vivian

Vivian(commandos) are down to 14 members!!! How did jim bob(hannibal) die?Mitchlover11 19:22, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Most likely predated. Or he caught TB. Cruise meerkat 21:28, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Padloper

Is Padloper J.D. on Meerkat Manor?Mitchlover11 19:31, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Unless J.D. died, then Padloper is J.D. Cruise meerkat 21:28, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes Pad is JD. I may call him a nickname. JD is his stage name Padloper is his real name. It also may Be Ozzy.- Mango_Kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.19.14.17 (talk) 17:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Ozzy died in 2005. How do you know what his real name might be? Padloper is in the Lazuli;Ozzy was in the Vivian. Ozzy died in 2005, and Padloper is alive and DM of the Lazuli. Cruise meerkat 21:39, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

i get my kats mixed up srry. i meny Odlapper. but i forgot he died in 2003- mango_Kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.19.14.22 (talk) 03:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Dun worry its just confusing sometimes. I forget, too. Like one time I couldn't remember the DM of the Vivian. >_<. It was Cyrano. Cruise meerkat 00:16, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Padloper is not JD, JD id JD, but JD died of of starvation and an infected scar. Cruise meerkat 01:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Meerkats from Gattaca that died

1.) Cyrano

2.) Captain Jack

3.) Bronco

4.) Mr. Dyanite

5.) and many more

--Mitchlover11-- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.26.217.145 (talk) 02:38, August 21, 2007 (UTC)

Weren't they all from Vivian, though? Especially Cyrano, since he was apparently their dominant male for a while. Although, yes, Gattaca has suffered some recent losses. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.189.237.15 (talk) 14:00, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

I say their names under the Gattaca.Mitchlover11 17:09, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

I believe these to be Vivian tunnelers(sorry, I've been reading too much Underland Chronicles!). I have no way of being certain because I left the papers somewhere else and this computer does not support the name list. Cruise meerkat 03:23, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

All meerkats

Since we have a list of all the Meerkats should we add all the members on the list?Mitchlover11 04:14, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I think so. I will do that. Cruise meerkat 05:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Houdini

Their is a male named Houdini on the list of meerkats. I think he was in the Xhosa!.Mitchmeerkat 18:54, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

HX is not any mob. I think it means rover or something. Or it could be a new mob. I asked various people - no one knew. However, the Houdini on MM was definetly Shadowflax. Cruise meerkat 04:29, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

HX... i foget the abv. Does this person have a reliable sorce? cuz it doesnt have the right infomation...Mango_kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.53 (talk) 00:16, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

I think X = Unknown and H = History. Cruise meerkat 02:45, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

I need a REAL sorce. The names arent the same. They say gattaca have four members and list MORE then four PROOF!!! Mango_kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.82.9.83 (talk) 00:14, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

I said I THINK. Also, the list is of meerkats alive after January 1st. They don't take off every meerkat that dies. Cruise meerkat 00:43, 18 September 2007 (UTC) OHHH k. Mango_kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.19.14.30 (talk) 02:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Citation - Houdini/Shadowflax

Shadowflax is Houdini. The FKMP site proves that with their info on the dominants, but they say nothing about his stagename, Houdini. There really is no citation. Its "common sense", sort of. Cruise meerkat 02:47, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Confusion over Commandos

On this site and KMP and FKMP site has said that the meerkat known as "Hannibal" on Meerkat Manor is "Jim Bob" of the Vivian tribe. Is the Commmandos mob from the MM different from the Commandos mob identified here? And in fact is the mob we know as Commandos from the show, actually the Vivian tribe? Mr T 19:09, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Hannibal Vivian = No one on MM.

MM Commandoes = KMP Vivian.

KMP Commandos = MM Commandoes RARELY.

Jim Bob/Rhian KMP = Hannibal/Nikita MM. ~Cruise_meerkat not logged in —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.218.192.76 (talk) 23:58, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Vivian. and Commandos. are different gangs. Hannibal is NOT the one on MM. Aragorn and Zorilla have Vivian stage names. cuz Ozzy and Grog wher NOT in the same gang. Ozzy was in CC and grog was in VV, Mango_kat

Aragorn is not Hannibal. Zorilla is not Nikita. Grog was in the Young Ones and Ozzy was in the Vivian. Cruise meerkat 22:52, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Adding images to the article

There's several images of certain meerkats. I have one of Eleusine, former leader of the Elveera. How do we add them to the article? Cruise meerkat 23:48, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

In addition, from the latest UK episodes of MM, it seems the Starsky have died out. Kinkajou and Mozart are dead, and De la Soul is missing; no word on the exact fate of the other members, but at one point it was just those three left. I just don't see why they aren't updating anymore Starsky info, like they said they would when Season 3 began to air. Tomorrow, the UK gets the last episode, and this Friday, the US gets Journey's End. I think that's enough time passed for them to fill in the Starsky blanks. 70.189.237.15 23:03, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

The new group, Aztecs, has not been added either. The webmaster of KMP has posted them on another website so I don't see why she doesn't put them on her site. Animal Planet has been known to lie before. They could have filmed the Balrog, not the Starsky. Although, Mozart has died. Cruise meerkat 23:07, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I'M CRYING MY HEART OUT!!

FLOWER, MOZART, KINKAJOU, SQUIGGY, LEN, "CARLOS", HANNIBAL, RISCA, THE WHOLE GATTACA.

I NEED SOME CHOCALATE! :-(Mitchmeerkat 23:24, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Aztecs have 15 members

I look at the sight and it says 15- strong groupMitchmeerkat 23:11, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

It does not. You need to read the whole thing. It says all adult males left and only 3 females and 4 pups remained. Cruise meerkat 23:28, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry. I didn't read the grammer part that stated it. I think this group will die to.Mitchmeerkat 23:32, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I hope they don't. I predict Young Ones are next to die, then maybe Aztecs or Hoax. Cruise meerkat 23:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I think Hoax will survive. Young Ones are next. At least our Whiskers are alive and well!!!Mitchmeerkat 23:36, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Listing extinct groups?

Now that we have more information on past groups that have died out, would it be possible to list more information than just a simple list? I won't lie: This thought came to me after the tragic loss of the Starsky and the consequential removal from the KMP article. But then, my thoughts went to Gattaca and Balrog, as they were on the reserve for quite some time. Would we forget about the Whiskers if they died out?

I think it's possible to put some information on those and other extinct groups, and any members if possible. It'd make sense for them to be listed in the Founded lists, too, as they were around at some point. Just putting this out there. 70.189.237.15 21:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I think we should do something like that. I have an idea, but don't get all started on it. I'll work it out for a few days and then begin adding the section. Cruise meerkat 00:39, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Risca

I think we should add Risca to the Whiskers list. She is a Whisker.Mitchmeerkat 22:33, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Was. We must update them with the mob they are in or were in at death. 70.196.197.172 01:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Vivian or Commandos

I'm starting to think that commandos are the real commandos. Read the description. Mitchmeerkat 00:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

The Commandos feature no one-eyes dominant male, plus I have proof that a dominant male was in the Vivian with one eye, Jim Bob. The Vivian are used for shots of Hannibal and such, the rest of the time its mostly Commandos. Cruise meerkat 02:18, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Article Improvements

It seems extremely redundant to have multiple lists of the groups of Meerkats. Since this is an article about the project, I propose removing the entire Meerkat Group section, merging any major data into the table in Meerkat Groups Under Study. I also recommend incorporating the Lost Groups section into the Meerkat Groups Under Study section since they were, presumably, once studied. Ditto the "Most recently known dominant males and females" section. That info could fit in the table nicely. Then renaming that section to either Meerkat Groups or Meerkat Groups in the Study.

The Friends section is unnecessary and in bad form for a Wikipedia article. A simple link in the external links would suffice. The history section is in bad need of major work, as is the intro. The Map section seems pointless without the actual map, which I suspect can not be included due to copyright, so the section should be removed and, if desired, a link to it added to the External Links section. Also, it appears that all of the images are stolen from other sites without any verifiable information to show they can be used in the article. They should be removed immediately since they are already tagged for deletion.

Also, I've added a tag to the article for cleanup beyond just the need to cite references. AnmaFinotera 05:41, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I broadly agree (having arrived at the opinion independently) and I've removed a lot of clutter, and added a couple of references to the history section. I don't think any information about the meerkat groups is necessary. It's a study of meerkat ethology. Although the meerkats and the groups are given names, this isn't for the purpose of making them into film stars or soap opera characters, as someone watching Meerkat Manor might be led to believe. --Tony Sidaway 21:09, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I see both sides of why you removed the meerkats, but I'm too tired to be reasonable at the moment so I'm just gonna leave it at I won't put it back on but disagree and I'll tell my reasons later in the day(its 2:00 A.M.) Cruise meerkat 07:02, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Wild Kingdom

Yo

Their was an hour long special about some of the meerkats at the Kalahri. It should be added to this article.

24.26.199.123 16:00, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

There needs to be a verifiable reference to back that up. Do you have a link to the show page or some other reference to it? AnmaFinotera 16:02, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't think they were KMP meerkats. First off, they were not habituated and had to be habituated. Second, they and their land looked different from the KMP meerkats and their land(even though certain territories may vary signifigantly). Cruise meerkat 17:43, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
