Unencyclopediac Language[edit]

Yes, unencyclopedic words and sentence structure abound. For this reason I chose to add the template for cleanup. I could do so myself, but it happens to be 3:00 am. Faulah (talk) 09:55, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pornographic Movie Claim[edit]

It is claimed that Karen stated in an interview in Ripple magazine that she was tricked into appearing in a pornographic film aged 18. No reference is cited for this claim. Searching Google, the only supporting reference for this claim that I could find was in a Livejournal Yeah Yeah Yeahs Community post linking to this article Ripple Magazine (Indonesian). I cannot verify the date of this interview, but it does appear to be the correct magazine. I used Kataku to translate the interview from Indonesian to English. The quality of the translation was quite lucid (for a machine generated translation). The article talks mainly about Karen's move to California and the process of recording "Show Your Bones". There is nothing which could back up the claim that she stated that she appeared in a pornographic film. Without a proper reference for this claim, I contend that it should be removed. 193.120.103.66 09:55, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sort order[edit]

MaxSem deleted O,Karen sort order as "wrong". discussion copied from User_talk:Kbdank71#Karen_O

I'm sorry but I don't see what was wrong with the original sort order. Surely if Karen O is the name of the article, and her stage name, then O,Karen should be fine. I've left a note asking MaxSem for his rationale, but had no response as yet. Wwwhatsup 05:04, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing I can think of is that with a stage name of "Karen O", "O" isn't technically her last name, so I can see why MaxSem wouldn't be ok with it (even though all categories were sorting on "O, Karen" before you even touched it, but regardless...). A bad example I could give would be like sorting Linkin Park as "Park, Linkin". The reason I made the defaultsort her full name was because something is better than nothing, especially when the "O" is actually short for her real last name. You might want to ask for input on the Karen O talk page, see what consensus is (if any). --Kbdank71 14:34, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
MaxSem hasn't responded so I'm going to change it back, and let him know that. To me the only credible alternative would be too make it Karen O rather than O, Karen. Wwwhatsup 17:39, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Just to let you know, though, if you're going to make it "Karen O", you don't need to set a default sort. --Kbdank71 17:54, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. I did not know that. Now I'm clearer on MaxSem's reasoning. Perhaps he's right. Wwwhatsup 18:43, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Style Question: Using First Names?[edit]

I've noticed that this person is referred to by her first name throughout the article. I know that her stage name is Karen O, but referring to her as Karen throughout the article doesn't seem like proper encyclopedic style. Are there some clear guidelines on this some where? Blowfish (talk) 18:24, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you could call her a "saucy lass" or a "lusty wench" instead of using her name. Also, these pics fucking blow. Can't somebody scrounge a decent headshot from google?

Lede rewrite?[edit]

Just a note to say I agree with Quibik's revert of the anon rewrite of the lead of the career section. But it is a bit stale, could be improved, also perhaps a little included in the lede, which itself should be expanded a bit to mention other achievements. Polish father or Polish-American father?[edit]

Polish-American seems more plausible for someone born in South Korea in 1978. john k (talk) 01:31, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why no mention of this Creators Project featuring KO staged at St. Anne’s Warehouse DUMBO October 2011? A memorable interactive musical theatre experience. 174.5.45.48 (talk) 21:53, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
