What does the following mean?

In 2003, he made a name for himself as a political dealmaker by keeping the battle emblem of the Confederate States of America from consideration by the Georgia State Senate for being readded to the official State Flag of Georgia.

it means his only claim to political fame is taking an already dead issue and rehashing it to get his name in the public. the "stars and bars" or confederate flag was taken off the flag but nobody voted on the new flag so gov.barnes got elected on the "let the people vote for the flag" bandwagon.a very small portion of people wanted it back on but most, white and black, didn't. so mr reed kept an option for a flag ,that had no chance, from the people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.145.34.147 (talk • contribs)

Reference to College Republicanism[edit]

I removed the reference to Reed being a Republican as a college undergraduate because it appears to be the result of erroneous reporting in the referenced article. Reed, as noted elsewhere in this entry, was at the time an intern for Joseph Patrick Kennedy II, a Democrat, and his entire political career has been as a Democrat. It appears likely that the reporter in the referenced article referred to Mr. Reed as a Republican due to his acting as an intermediary between the students and Howard University over Republican National Committee Chairman Lee Atwater's resignation from the board of trustees. To make such a claim, in light of Mr. Reed's lifetime of Democratic political work, should require something more substantial than the reference used.

I agree with the above. Also its worth noting that Georgia uses the flawed Diebold voting machines that were demonstrated by Princeton University to be easily exploited by crooks. There was a lot of controversy over this election with accusations of racial slurs against opponent Mary Norwood. As well as a shady grassroots word of mouth campaign to scare black voters to not vote for a white woman. Does he really need a little section about how he supported Hillary Clinton?
