The name thing.[edit]

On her twitter @KlockeWork the final tweet ( 25 Nov 2013) reads "Going to be deactivating this account. Please follow me @alterkates for Kate Lock updates.". The bio of that account reads "I write about people who are bent but not broken. If you leave your curtains open I will look in your window. Writing as Kate Kessler & Kate McLaughlin. AKA Kady Cross, Kathryn Smith." I'm completely lost as to which is her 'real' (non-nom-de-plume) name. --AlisonW (talk) 19:34, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

See the next section. See also "Smith, Kathryn" at SFE3 and Kathryn Smith at the Internet Speculative Fiction Database --both to be revised early May 2022, probably.
P.S. The current heading at AlterKate.com is essentially "author Kate" above "Kessler . Locke . McLaughlin" ; Kathryn-Smith.com may be another retired domain. --P64 (talk) 19:48, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Works by Kathryn Smith and 5 pseudonyms at LC and WorldCat[edit]

Library of Congress reports full name Kathryn Dawn Smith from Macmillan, her 2020 publisher as Kate McLaughlin --her 6th name as credited author of books.

NAME : LCCN (LC Catalog records) : WorldCat summary of participating library catalog records
  • Smith, Kathryn: n2010017370 (19) : "162 works in 428 publications in 5 languages and 4,186 library holdings
  • Cross, Kady : no2011085191 (5) : "28 works in 136 publications in 4 languages and 5,118 library holdings
  • Cross, Kate : no2012067677 (2) : "5 works in 24 publications in 1 language and 722 library holdings
  • Locke, ---- : no2012067678 (1) : "18 works in 60 publications in 2 languages and 1,719 library holdings
  • Kessler, ---- : n2015072492 (7) : "26 works in 75 publications in 1 language and 2,913 library holdings
  • McLaughlin, ---- : n2020002708 (2) : "6 works in 16 publications in 1 language and 632 library holdings

LCCN completes the URL at both LC Authorities and WorldCat Identities. The article footer now links the first two of six identities at WorldCat (via navbox {{Authority control}} and Wikidata). LCCN contains as its first four digits the year of its assignment, or identification of the personal name as an unique author; the first two date from 2010 and 2011. Kate Kessler has some advantage in libraries, as the author of Crime Detective Mystery Suspense Thriller fiction (some of that) rather than any genre of speculative fiction. --P64 (talk) 19:37, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
