Date of birth[edit]

This article has been subject to edit warring over the date of birth, which was formerly referenced to IMDb (the only reference in the article). Judging by the history of the article, IMDb has also had varying years of birth for her. I found conflicting information online and added the best source I could find (in addition to reviews that do not give any information on her age). Katsuya1234, who says she is the article subject, has changed the date of birth again so that it no longer matches the source, which I have accordingly marked as failing verification. Can anyone - Katsuya or anyone else - find a better secondary source for this datum, or just for the year? (The source I found also differs on the date; it is not necessary to have anything more than the year, or even a range of two years if a good source can be found for how old she was in any particular year.) Hello, Yngvadottir (talk). I grew up with Katie Walder, and yes, she was born in 1982, like myself. I found quite a few websites to verify her age: http://how-i-met-your-mother.wikia.com/wiki/Katie_Walder, http://allstarpics.famousfix.com/pic-gallery/katie-walder-pics.htm , http://www.vipfaq.com/Katie%20Walder.html, http://www.fanmail.biz/93431.html, https://www.ovguide.com/katie-walder-9202a8c04000641f80000000153ee747 ... the list goes on and on. I can get other people who grew up with us to verify if you'd like? Katie is 32 and will be 33 on October 13, 2015. I just turned 33 this year, we were in the same grade. The IMDB has had a false age for years, as they do with many celebrities. Apparently anyone can write them in and give them an inaccurate age, which is mind-boggling. (It says many actors are younger OR older than they actually are - I can give examples if you'd like). If you need any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me, thank you! @Bettyfrye65: Hi! Unfortunately none of those is a reliable source as it is defined here; for example the first one is on Wikia, so it can clearly be edited by anyone, just like Wikipedia. Can you find any newspapers or magazines - has People or Variety ever mentioned her age in passing, for example? The one I found and put in the article isn't marvelous, but at least looks as if it has some sort of central editorial control; anything better than that? Yngvadottir (talk) 15:34, 21 August 2015

I knew Katie when she lived in New York, (I worked with her), where she moved AFTER college. If she was born in 1982, it would mean she was 16-17 at that time (late 90's), which is impossible. Realitycheck.ib (talk) 08:48, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Realitycheck. I have done extensive research and Katie was, in fact, born in 1982. You seem to be very intent on posting a different birthdate, and the only conclusion I can come to is that you are jealous of her career? Wikipedia can trace the IP address, so I know who you are, and it appears that you are another actor trying to hurt the actress -- please stop changing her date of birth or you will be banned from Wikipedia. None of the sources offered here are reliable sources suitable for use in a WP:BLP. Given that Walder may have been involved in this dispute, we have to be very sure that we don't violate WP:DOB. --Ronz (talk) 19:23, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
