Infobox timestamp[edit]

My point is nothing to do with etiquette, preferred formats, or when/how often the infobox gets updated. It's to do with presenting correct information to the reader.

The infobox timestamp is supposed to show a date or date/time at which the stats are unambiguously correct. This revision re-introduced a date of 25 August, which was the date local time of the last match included in the stats, against SJ Earthquakes. However, that match didn't kick off until 03:00 26 August UK time, and even later into the 26th the further east you go. So readers in those timezones are currently seeing incorrect information, i.e. that Mr Kamara had 21 appearances before the Earthquakes match.

Using a bare date unambiguously after a player's last match (and before their team's next) is OK, but it can be tricky finding one if matches are close together. Using the timestamp method, as recommended at the documentation, eliminates timezone-related ambiguity, and in this case, stops us showing incorrect information. I'll correct it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:36, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
