Edit Protection[edit]

{{editprotected}} for the Posthumous Career section, this site and section continue to be bombed with links to other websites in the main areas of the page. All links should be put in the Links section at the bottom, I delete them and they continue to add them. - Stvoyager (talk) 13:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC))[reply]

This page is not protected and never has been, so any editor can make such an edit. However, I'll take a look at the dispute all the same.... CIreland (talk) 01:28, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Stvoyager (talk · contribs) is correct concerning the placement and formatting of the external link. However, this is a stylistic issue. Of greater concern is that neither of the two links provided appear to be suitable. The CMT link actually contains very little information so is essentially pointless. The link to the site with the photos ("Dora's Keith Whitley Photo Tribute") appears to host many photos which it would not seem to own the copyright for. It also has quite of lot of intrusive advertising. For both these reasons, I do not believe it satisifies Wikipedia's external links policy. CIreland (talk) 01:43, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its unimaginable that another Keith Whitley fan would not want to share a site that someone put so much time and love into to making, a true fan would want others to see it, and anything else on Keith, we all love the man, why not leave Dora's site up for new fans to find out more about the legend? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kybluesky (talkcontribs)

In Popular Culture[edit]

early in the bio there is a line that says "Whitley's brief career in mainstream country music lasted from 1984 till his death in 1989, but he continues to influence an entire generation of singers and songwriters."

so why no example?

I know there is a song by Lee Ann Womack and the opening verse is "I think i know what killed Keith Whitley, and it wasn't just the whiskey. Even with success there was a sad lonliness." i thought maybe this should be included on his page.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Geokaii (talkcontribs) 22:45, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why no example? If you are at all knowledgeable about country music, there is no need for examples. What do you want? Liner notes, musical imitation, flat out statements from artist that Keith Whitley was an influence? Those all exist, but if don't follow country music you don't know. Are you seriously saying that only validation on Wikipedia is confirmation? 108.38.29.226 (talk) 02:23, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Keith Whitley's actual birth date and given name at birth[edit]

Hello. I've noticed many times that someone has changed Keith Whitley's given name at birth back to Jessie Keith Whitley, as well as his date of birth back to July 1, 1955. I would kindly like to settle this once and for all by saying that, despite what numerous publications and texts may say, neither of the info is correct, and that Jackie Keith Whitley and July 1, 1954 are indeed the correct info. Only his biological son is named Jesse Keith Whitley (his first name has no i). To prove my point, I would like to present you a YouTube link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3mptQi9k-A - which plays a fan-made Keith Whitley video. In the video's info box, the user name who uploaded it explains the goof-up, and even welcomes anyone to send a message to the user's account if they want a digital copy of Keith's original birth announcement.

Thanks! 1zackman (talk) 16:05, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In that case he would have been 34 at the time of his death, not 33, correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.119.20.9 (talk) 07:56, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The first section erroneously has Keith's age at death as 33. He was 34 and less than two months from being 35 as he was born in 1964. Could someone correct this? I tried but couldn't find a way to edit that section. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.216.159.11 (talk) 01:41, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
