Stretching the Issue

I like Kelly Rowland a lot, I really do, but whoever wrote this article is stretching a bit, trying to make her look more successful on the charts than she really is. If I was someone who was unfamiliar with Kelly Rowland and read this article, I would think she was just as successful as say, Alicia Keys, when she is not. That's not saying she's not as good an artist as Alicia Keys, that's just saying she's not as successful. Rowland's career with Destiny's Child can match many others but her solo career is only modestly successful. When you have to state how well her single performed in Croatia, Slovenia, Lithuania, or New Zealand, you are stretching a bit for something to grab on to. If Madonna, Whitney, or Britney had songs that didn't reach the Top 40 (and definitely not the Top 100) of the U.S. or UK, people would be saying how their song flopped; regardless if it did do well in Croatia, Lithuania, or Slovenia. Also, "Dilemma" was already a hit months before her album came out as it was actually a release from Nelly's album; she did it with him as a guest vocalist. Only after it became such a monster hit did her label decide to add it to pressings of her album before they released it, therefore, its technically not the first single, "Stole" was, which was moderately successful. The album did go Gold (500,000 units), due to the moderate success of "Stole" and the carry over sales of "Dilemma". Her followup album did not reach the modest success of her solo debut and has run its chart life even as I write this in July 2008. Kelly has had a fantastic career with Destiny's Child and can even have a good solo career if she manages to get from under Beyonce's shadow (meaning find a new manager other than Beyonce's father and change labels; Columbia and Matthew Knowles are always going to prioritize Beyonce over her so Kelly has nothing to lose by switching up). I suggest no more stretching in the article and let the reader come to their own conclusion of her performance and success. If a song wasn't a hit in the US, UK, Canada, or Australia, no sense of mentioning its performance in Croatia, Slovenia, or Lithuania. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.192.176.30 (talk) 02:04, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree. "Work" is hardly an "international number-one single." It hit the top of the German Black Chart. That's it. This article reads like press release puffery. Well I have news for you—Miss Kelly Rowland is hanging by a thread. 68.53.99.15 (talk) 14:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
