Fair use rationale for Image:Simply deep (album).jpg

Image:Simply deep (album).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Singles: Number one, top ten, and top forty songs inclusion

I do not understand the continual removal of Kelly Rowland's count of number one songs, top ten songs, and top forty songs from her singles chart table. Many contemporary artists have these counts included on their singles chart, and unless a viable reason for not including these counts is provided, I will continue to reinsert them upon their removal. Please explain the reason for removing the song counts if there is a legitimate reason for them not to be included. TJ 21:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

with some artists then this section at the bottom is a notable inclusion because they have accumulated lots of chart success over a longer period of time. at the moment all of the numbers are under ten so personally i dont think that it is necessary at the moment. in the future yes, but at the moment no. Mister sparky (talk) 18:16, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Tours

If a list of concert tours does not belong on an artist's discography page, where would it belong? The tours relate to the artists music, their discography, as the sole purpose of concert tours are to promote an artist's music. If a list of concert tours does not belong on the discography page can you direct me, as well as everyone else for future reference, to Wikipedia mandate that says such information does not belong here? TJ 21:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Put it on the main page. A tour is not part of an artist's discography - Noboyo
I did not see any mention of concert tours being irrelevant to an artist's discography in the link you provided. Instead, I did my own search of both contemporary pop artists as well as established pop artists' discographies. While a lot of Rowland's contemporary pop artists do have their concert tours listed on their discography pages (such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Hilary Duff, and Chris Brown), the more established artists do not have their concert tours listed on their discography pages (such as Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey). I went ahead and added Kelly Rowland's list of concert tours to her main page. I want to look into this further and determine whether or not listing concert tours on an artist's discography is bad form or not. If you decide to remove the list of tours again I won't re-add them until I get a more definitive answer on the subject. TJ 09:35, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Singles table

hey guys, can i make a suggestion to split the singles table? with most of the FA status discographies they have the singles table split into different ones. ie lead artist, featured artist, other etc. just makes it look tidier. plus if we wanna promote this articles to FA status then it would definitely help trying to emulate other FA articles. what do people think? :) Mister sparky (talk) 18:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Discography

You are I begged not to reduce the voice on Kelly Rowland, that must understand 2 albums, 1 ep, 36 singles (I included both the commercial ones and the promotional ones), the cinema career, televesiva and philanthropic. Reduce the voice, partially bringing only the information would not be worthy of an encyclopedia! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.216.13.147 (talk) 10:07, April 30, 2010

singles tables

under no circumstances is the french-chart performance more singificant than the euro hot 100. If you don't reverse the changes i will do it myself. This is like replacing billboard hot 100 with the chart from Kansas state for instance. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Szaboci (talkcontribs) 11:06, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Erm that is a ridiculous notion. And you need to calm down. The french performance is important because Rowland released several important French-collabs. Also the main issue is that Billboard does not have a stable source for the Euro Hot 100 positions. According to Billboard only 3 of her songs chart on Euro Hot 100 (it doesn't even show "Stole" as charting there even though we know that is the case). Therefore as their is the absense of a suitable source I had no choice but to replace with an alternative sourceable chart. Your comparison of Kansas state and Billboard Hot 100 is illogical because Kansas state would be a component of Hot 100 whereas Euro Hot 100 is an aggregate of 16 Euro Charts. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 14:31, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
just to update you, U.S. Dance has been removed and replaced with Germany. France also stays. EU Hot 100 has been discarded. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 13:54, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
so are you saying there was no source for the eu chart? or are you saying that you were unable to find them? billboard is not the only one source one can refer to. In fact I found 5 of her songs on billboard mentioning Eu hot 100 position.
Please see them here: When love takes over [2] like this, work, daylight [3] commander [4] Also for stole (your example) was already linked with an ARIA chart archive source.(see appropriate article on wiki).
I know my comparison was ridiculous but I it was meant to be... As much as replacing the EU hot 100 (a Market of a minimum of 0.5 billion in compare to the French market which is by no mean more than 60 million). Not to mention that the French collabs you given as reason for taking EU out were, No future in the past and Una Femme in Prison, did not even chart in the French top 40. So I'm sorry but I still don't quite get it why the EU chart was replaced with the French one.
In my opinion France should be there as Germany or UK but an EU chart has to be there too! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Szaboci (talkcontribs) 18:06, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
US dance, UK dance, Uk R&B and EU in the table? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.112.20.134 (talk) 00:21, July 19, 2010

Let me clarify my position in relation to the comments you've made. MOS:DISCOG states that there is to be a maximum of 10 charts. 6 of these are European, 2 American (R&B and Hot 100) and 2 Australasian (New Zealand, Australia). I cannot see which of those could be viably removed from the tables and replaced with EU Hot 100. ---- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 (talk2me) 22:24, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Response

Not done, I'm not sure what the issue is. The charts we have listed in the discog are:

  • US Hot 100 - not charted
  • US R&B - not charted
  • Australia - 61 (this is correct as the AUS chart goes up to 100 but can only be sourced from Pandora)
  • French Singles Chart - not charted
  • German Singles Chart - not charted
  • Ireland - 13
  • Dutch top 100 - not charted
  • New Zealand - 16
  • Switzerland - 46
  • UK - 9

so i don't see the issue. With this requests you're supposed to say change x to y because of z -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 (talk2me) 22:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Comeback

Isn't comeback a promo single rather than an offical single from the album? I can't find any stand alone single releases available online by any of the major stores... Szaboci (talk) 07:18, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't want to be fussy but quoting the reference it says: "going for adds" that means it hasn't yet gone for adds and its planned. (to me at least). Also I found it odd that for 5 years we all thought that the album had four offical singles and then now suddenly it became five! Szaboci (talk) 07:35, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Songs sent to radio = singles. Not all singles have digital releases, covers or music videos. See Love in This Club Part II, Did It On'em, Raining Men and Hot Tottie for more examples of airplay-only release. If Comeback wasn't "going for adds" then it would have been removed from the list in that reference. Oz talk 08:05, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Still it doesn't make much sense to me to send two singles to Urban radio within a 1 week unless one of them was pulled last minute... I just found a source stating that "Comeback" was going to be the forth single in 2008, the source in the current article says that "Comeback" was sent to radio in 2007. [[5]] Szaboci (talk) 08:04, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Could someone please correct it in the article then? Szaboci (talk) 13:50, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

But we always say a radio release alone is not enough to symbolize a commercial release. There needs to be accompanying coverage from reliable third party sources also. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 22:29, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Yes and there is nothing about this song on the net apart of that only one added source and few gossip sites! I suggest deleting comeback as a single. Also if Beyonce can get away with commercial itunes releases not being listed on her discography page as offical singles I think we are a bit harsh here with Kelly Rowland, considering that discography pages are supposed to show the artist overall chart and commercial success. Oz you edit Beyonce's discography page quite often I am sure you know what I am talking about... Szaboci (talk) 07:24, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

OK then. Can't find any reliable third party sources about "Comeback" being a single so remove it. Szaboci, why are you bringing up Beyonce here? Lol. You've been told at Talk:Beyoncé Knowles discography why "Upgrade U" and "Party" are not singles and I have nothing to do with that. — Oz (talk) 07:34, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you! I remember I have been told, but then it doesn't mean that I actually have to agree with that, does it? Sorry I could have brought up other artists too however the comparison is always the most striking with the former bandmate. Szaboci (talk) 08:15, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

JUDGING SENTENCE

the sentence written in the way in which is saved now it results judging and not encyclopedic. It should abstain from giving a judgment. Success / failure is a concept that can refer to the sales, to the certifications, in the opinion of musical critics, to the positions reached in classification, to the notoriety reached on the newspapers or sites web. The sentence " Much like her second album, Here I Am was also unsuccessful, having failed to earn any chart certificates. " should be to edit in "Here I Am like her predecessor has failed to earn any chart certificates".--109.52.126.78 (talk) 16:04, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

NOT CORRECT SENTENCE

It is not correct...

THIS IS CORRECT: "Her discography, as a solo artist, began in 2002 and includes three studio album, two compilation album, two ep, a box-set, 29 official singles of which twelve as a featured artist, three promotional singles, two charted songs, a charity single (in the chorus), two DVD albums and 34 music video." TOTAL SALES

Enough with these continuous diatribes on the figures of sale, it seems me that it plays him to lower the data, justifying saying that the sources aren't reliable: DON'T BE' TRUE! would need to accept the things as I am, and this doesn't devalue the other artists! But all it takes is persisting to reduce the data and the respects of sale. These are the numbers of legally records sold...who knows how much records will have been sold or unloaded in illegal way........

DESTINY'S CHILD sold over 60 million records worldwide (40 million only albums). DC are the second best-selling female girl group in the history, behind The Spice Girls (75millions) and before TLC (55 millions) [29][30][31][32][33].

ROWLAND AS A SOLO ARTIST HAS SOLD MORE THAN 22 million records worldwide (+4 million albums and +18million lead and duet singles)[34].

ROWLAND CAREER In her career she has surpassed 82 million records globally with her solo sales and sales of her group.[35]

See her officail promo video during X FACTOR UK, on national UK TV. SEE VIDEO--> [36] Music&Co (talk) 07:22, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

As per this discussion here sales have to come from reliable independent sources of which things soul culture (a blog), twitter, production companies are not classfied as reliable sourced. If you added the 22 million that rowland has supposedly sold to the 50 million which DC have sold thats 72m ... 10m behind what the daily mail claim. Thus It cannot/will not be added. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 13:34, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I do not have a source but Here I Am to date has sold 262k in the U.S. The 180k that is posted is dates 2 years ago almost. Then in the U.K it has sold 73k. Again I don't have a source, I keep track and tally everyweek. It has already gone silver so there is proof it has done more than 60k. That's 335k in the U.K and U.S. Worldwide is about 450k-500k.

Why hasn't this been updated? I thought WIKI is always on top of things and has answers to everything. Talk A Good Game is on 192k in the U.S at the moment aswell. Italian Certifications of sales (Fimi and Musica&Dischi)

When love takes over and Work are platinum in Italy. Please insert this certications in singles tables. I understand, however the article does not currently use the Italian charts as reference so therefore I cannot insert this. As a general rule of showing artist overall success wiki normally uses 10 charts in chart table. If you think that the Italian chart should be inserted please open a new section and explain your argument why? Note once inserted most probably one of the other charts has to be removed. Dilemma song

Dilemma used to be in the lead section but then it was moved to features. Now I understand the logic behind however I did some research and for instance "allmusic" we use as one of our main reference pages regards the song as the first and lead single of Simply Deep, additionally the album version of Dilemma on Simply Deep credits Rowland as lead. This should be back in the lead section in my opinion as sources prove its is a duet, it was marketed and widely regarded as a duet and both albums Nellyville and Simply Deep took off on this single. [37][38] Szaboci (talk) 18:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

I think the same.. for me it's ok--95.74.179.91 (talk) 20:44, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

French version of simply deep : the song une femme en prison credit rowland as lead. And in the international edition of here i am when love takes over and what a feeling in that way credit rowland? Lead, pair or feat?--95.74.179.91 (talk) 21:02, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Dilemma = yes. When Love Takes Over and What a Feeling = no because she is credited as a featured artist. It doesn't matter if they appear on Here I Am, she's still a featured artist. 0z (talk) 23:24, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

I agree about WLTO and What a Feeling. Szaboci (talk) 06:45, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

other chart to insert

hi. I would want to propose to insert some other charts in the chart of the singles and albums..for the albums I propose the insertion of: UK r&B chart and Australia r&b chart both because the artist is primarily an artist r&b, both because all of its albums have conquered top-ten and top-20 in these charts, showing a considerable impact on that part of music market. For the singles I propose to insert: UK r&b (work #1, invincible #4), US dance and UK dance (because of numerous productions dance of notable impact::like this #1US, daylight #14US, when love takes over #1US and UK, commander #1US #2UK, what to feeling #26 US #2UK, down for whatever #3UK). I propose besides the insertion of the Italian chart since numerous passages have had impact of sales or airplay: dilemma, stole, like this, work, daylight, brethe gentle, when love takes over, everywhere you go, commander, invincible, what to feeling, down for whatever, castle made of sand, lay it on me. Besides conquering two certifications for singles.--109.52.115.179 (talk) 09:44, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

I strongly oppose adding more component charts such as the UK and AUS R&B charts as Rowland is an international artist and having more countries in the chart table in my opinion would reflect her overall success more appropriately.

I am also opposed adding the Italian charts as none of her albums charted there. Szaboci (talk) 12:02, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

I disagree. Wikipedia only allows 10 charts in the tables. Adding the UK R&B/Dance charts and US Dance chart will mean that some of the charts already in the tables will have to be removed including their certifications. And I don't agree with adding Italy because none of her albums charted there. 0z (talk) 22:44, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Actually Ms Kelly charted and peaked @ 41 in Italy.[39] Question - Is this enough to replace France with Italy? I personally think that since Work was major in Italy going Platinum it would be nice if we could show that in the tables. Her chart trajectory in terms of singles is all the same if not higher in italy WLTO went number 1(platinum) and stole peaked higher as well, plus breath gentle peaked at number 2... thoughts? Szaboci (talk) 10:30, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Dutch top 40/Tip

Wouldn't it more appropriate to use the dutch top 40/tip chart in the article since it measures both airplay and sales? For instance the Christina Aguilera discography or Beyoncé discography are both using this format adding the tip chart entries where appropriate. The tip chart acts as an extension of the top 40. Opinions? If everyone agrees I am happy to make the changes. Szaboci (talk) 12:12, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Ms. Kelly's U.S. sales

Billboard reported in 2011 that Ms. Kelly has sold 222,000 copies but the 2008 source used in this article says 273,000 copies. Which source is correct? KRDilemma (talk) 00:56, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

I cannot judge which one more is reliable, my guts would go with billboard. I mean the above article also claims that Ms. Kelly sold 1,2 million copies worldwide to me that's a bit high too judging its chart performance. Szaboci (talk) 08:17, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

I would go with the Billboard source too because it's more reliable. —Lightsout (talk) 11:07, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

I agree billboard has the correct U.S. sales. The billboard source say Kelly was dropped by columbia records for poor album sales. Columbia wouldn't have dropped Kelly if the album sold 1.2 million copies worldwide so the 2008 article must be wrong. And mercedes-benzsa.co.za does not look reliable to me because it is a South African car website lol. KRDilemma (talk) 11:27, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
