Episode Recap[edit]

I have added in something several times but it kept getting deleted. So now, I join Wikipedia and add in a fact that I think is important. Christopher did not struggle while Tony was suffocating him. Isn't this significant? He is leaving a young woman a widow, a child an orphan, a lot of problems unresolved and he does not even struggle. (Tal123 (talk) 02:21, 30 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Title[edit]

There has to be some title significance with "heidi" perhaps the littler orphan storybook character of Heidi (an orphan) representing the now fatherless child of Christopher.

It refers to the names of the driver and passenger of the car that Chris almost collides with. Mrfridays 18:26, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that symbolism is frequently in the Sopranos and therefore many names and events are open to interpretation. Tony had always been a big fan of JFK so naming a girl Kennedy would make people scratch their heads. Also, some may argue that Kennedy (the girl) was the first catalyst leading to Christopher's death and one may laugh at the irony that someone named Kennedy was responsible for killing someone else. As for the Heidi thing, again, we'll never know. We do not know if the writers knew of the orphan Heidi. Personally, for Caitlin (Christopher's daughter), the death of her father will benefit her in the long run. She is too young to have a memory of it. Christopher abused women and was a big materialist. It is likely that Kelli will remarry and hopefully a better family will come about.(Tal123 (talk) 02:19, 30 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I don't know if this is worth adding, but the AV Club retrospective has an excellent take on why those two characters are significant enough to name the episode after: "The conclusion I came to after watching the scenes preceding Tony’s desert revelation led me to think that he’s realized he’s like the two teenage girls the episode is named after, whom Tony will never know and has no way of knowing. Kennedy and Heidi are two girls out joyriding after dark, even though Heidi only has her learners’ permit. Rather than going to help Tony and Christopher, which would have prevented Chris’ death at the hands of Tony, they continue on into the dark. They’re not, technically, at fault. Chris was drifting out of his lane, and he was high on cocaine. But the right thing to do is to go back and make sure everything’s okay. Like so many characters in the run of this series, however, Kennedy and Heidi choose to do what’s easy, what’s expedient, rather than what’s right. Cjlindman — well worth adding. The titles of Sopranos episodes are sometimes very odd — 'I dream of Jeannie Cusamano' — or highlight something unimportant in the episode — 'Blue Comet'. The title of this episode is in both categories. As for the girls' names. Kennedy is explained above — it's a bit of a stretch, but plausible. As for Heidi, this is also a stretch, and probably not original, but: she does not report the accident — she keeps it secret — hides it — hide, Heidi. Trip[edit]

Also, the Vegas trip paralleled tony's coma dream as well as the intro credits to the show.

Character and episode name?[edit]

After Kennedy (at the wheel) narrowly misses the car Christopher is driving and the car swerves off the road, Heidi says something like, "Kennedy, maybe we should go back and see if they're okay." But Kennedy refuses.
