Quality of Notes & Coins?

The grading of the circulating coins is pretty good with some well worn and others extremely fine. But banknotes like most poor countries tend to be poor for lower denominations and average for higher denominations.

Is this true? The Kenyan notes I have seen are all of the same quality as those in the UK. Rob cowie 17:16, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Currency Policy

I'd find the following information helpful: Is the KES a freely-floating currency? Is the trading relatively liquid? Are there any restrictions on importing/export currency from Kenya (eg, some countries forbid removing currency from the country; it must be converted before exit)... if anyone can add this info, it would be nice... 209.87.224.87 (talk) 17:27, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

The restrictions have mostly been removed. Only huge investement transactions and/or those raising suspicion of drug trafficking will raise flags. It isn't unusual to withdraw or deposit millions of Ksh for business transactions, and carrying them across borders is common. The currency floats, and there isn't any significant intervention by CBK. Size of a 1 shilling piece.

I came here in search of info on when the size was changed. I've got infront of me a 1975 and a 2005 and was just curious. Does anyone know?(Morcus (talk) 06:30, 17 October 2010 (UTC))
