To change Capacity of home stadium

According to wiki page of J.L.N stadium Kaloor, Kochi maximum capacity of the stadium was given as 75,000 limited to 41k for upcoming fifa competition. Also since the overhaul of venue is being done for upcoming international matches, installation of bucket seats on the third tier of stadium definitely takes its capacity to full 75,000.But this page limits the capacity at 50-something thousand people while match day attendance shows 61k people on most of the games. This discussion was started to bring this problem to the attention of admin. Please do make necessary changes. Akjoy444 (talk) 08:49, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

I do second this. The stadium capacity is larger now with better infrastructure please update the page admin

I will be taking on this GA review . — Force Radical∞ ( TalkContribs ) 10:37, 23 January 2018 (UTC) Shady59 ArsenalFan700-I am currently experiencing some unexpected meatspace priorities and will not be able to devote time to reviewing the article. If you want I can return this too the pool of GA articles or if you are ready to wait until 22 February 2018 (It may also finish earlier than expected in February) I will be able to take on this review after that date. Thanks — FR 03:52, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Official Report 1 (Summary before and after fixes according to comments)

This article passes its Good article nomination. This is how the article, as of January 8, 2018, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: Pass Pass (Worked on during GA review)
2. Verifiable?: Pass Pass (Worked on during GA review)
3. Broad in coverage?: Pass Pass
4. Neutral point of view?: Pass Pass
5. Stable?: Pass Pass
6. Images?: Pass Pass

The article in its current state Pass Passes the GA criteria. The article needs a far more rigorous citation system and there are some layout issues which need to be resolved — Force Radical ( TalkContribs ) 06:52, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

@Shady59 & ArsenalFan700: I am sorry for the delay I caused due to my meatspace priorities. Getting on with the GA review I notice certain problems in the article. A Twitter post and a post on the corporation's own website are used as references. These are inadmissible for GA and should be removed. I also find certain sites such as goal.com and worldfootball.net of whoes reliability I am uncertain about (I personally have never heard of them). Please verify if these sites are reliable and if they are not then substitute with other sources. Also please standardise the references so that all of them have access dates, source dates and publishers/websites. (In particular the ISL website refs are not standardized). The article also needs CE for tone correction and grammatical mistakes — Frc Rdl 07:33, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Hey, no worries about the delay but there might need to be an extended one for a little bit. I have been busy myself the last few weeks and I feel that the page has been hit with a little vandalism or other changes that I would like to get through soon before starting the GA properly. As for goal.com and worldfootball.net, both of those are completely reliable sources. Goal.com is a news website that has been featured on many GA football articles before and I have used it for Indian football articles on here since I started over eight years ago. Worldfootball.net I cross-referenced with the actual Indian Super League website to make sure the attendances are accurate and I can confirm that they are. The stats are also correct and can be cross-referenced on both soccerway and the Indian Super League website. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 08:12, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response, Ill pop back in a week to see how things are. If you have any doubts you can ping me to this page(If pings don't work feel free to post on my talk page) — Frc Rdl 10:40, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
That will work for me. By around 7 or 8 March should be good. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 17:58, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

Report 1

Here goes:

Lede

  • The Blasters compete in the Indian Super League, one of the top leagues of Indian football. Needs to be sourced later in the article
  • The club's current majority stake holder is Sachin Tendulkar.[2]
  • The Blasters play their matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Creates ambiguity. Have they never played an away match ?Please reword.
  • led the league-led in terms of
  • A last minute winnergoal
  • Please check the last para of the lede. It seems to use language which is better suited for sensational journalism and not for the encyclopaedia.

I will take up the History section tomorrow — FR+ 07:11, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Will add a source later in the article. Fixed the second point, the third point, fourth point, and fifth point. Not sure what you mean by sensational journalism. All the stuff in that last paragraph is factual and doesn't try to paint this in any other way. More clarification on that would be nice. Thanks. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 22:59, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
I have done some minor ce. My major point of contention was the despite bit which seemed to try and suppress the fact that they did not do that well in the next season — FR+ 06:54, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
Ah, no worries then. And don't worry about your speed. I am in no rush :) --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:03, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Formation
  • Construction of the team-Construction sound a bit weird in the context.
Replaced with with "Preparations." --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:08, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
  • Please add at least some info on some prominent players
What do you mean by this? Like, where and what? --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:08, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
The WP:SEAOFBLUE in the last sentence of the second paragraph of formation. — FR+ 07:16, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
Ah, I get that. I really added that there in preparation for in a few years (believe it or not) when we could create a History of Kerala Blasters FC page and add it there (since detail will be greater there than the main page). I guess I could shorten it to only prominent players like I did with Jamshedpur FC. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 23:48, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
  • I have made certain ce edits (If you find anything wrong please fix it) to remove redundant portions(if you look at it from the pov of a reader it does not add context to the article) .Going through the rest of the article, please refer to this essay and remove such redundant bits from the article.
Will do! --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:08, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

New rivalry

Please add the club's rivalry with bengaluru fc Gokul linson (talk) 13:23, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Add to Supporters and Rivalries Section- The New Intense Rivalry and Derby between Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC (with links.)

It all started back on August 23, 2017 when Bengaluru FC faced April 25 for their AFC Cup Inter-Zone Play-Off Semifinal game. Rino Anto and CK Vineeth were the two from bunch of players that were the part of BFC since its inception but were now transferred to play for Kerala Blasters.

Coming to the incident on night of August 23, 2017, Both these players decided to visit Bengaluru’s home leg fixture against North Korean side April 25.However, a bunch of supporters among the group also chanted, “Who The F**K is Kerala Blasters?”. Aimed at the ISL side for whom the 2 players would go on to play for. This did not go down well for Manjappada Fans(KBFC Fan group) expressing their displeasure in social media. Thus a new rivalry came into existence in Indian Football without even once a ball being kicked off among the two teams. While India always had their own derbies in the form of Bengal derbies or Goan Derby or Northeastern ones. This was the first BIG Rivalry among two ISL sides that was born purely out of fans hatred for each other.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/rino-anto-deeply-hurt-at-anti-kerala-blasters-chants-by/1f2g2he5mie5l1b2dh6ucvowcc (Report by reporters are numerous , this is just one of them)

Following these incidents the clubs first met each other on December New Years Eve, in Kerala Blaster's home stadium. The stadium was sold out! And only yellow army, Manjappada, to be seen all around. But the derby was won by BFC by last minute goals. This was the most attended match in the 2017-2018 ISL season.(39,000 out of 39,000)

After this in March, Kerala Blasters met Bengaluru FC in Bengalore's Stadium. BFC has a very small crowd compared to Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC).To everyones surprise Manjappada's travelling fans travelled to BFC stadium with full force to the point where 60% of the stadium was filled with Kerala Blasters Fans in Yellow. Never has ISL witnessed this much intense passion for a derby. To make it more impressive the stadium made a record attendance that day mainly because of the Manjapadda's fans.(25,000 out of 25,000). But again the derby was won by BFC by extra time goals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.110.122.95 (talk) 12:08, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Splitting proposal

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

I am closing this discussion at the behest of another user due to my extended confirmed status. Though I am not familiar with the subject it seems to me that there exists a strong consensus that the Manjappada fan club are deserving of their own article. I have copied the 'Support' section over to Manjappada. Beaneater (talk) 11:38, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

I propose that section Support Section be split into a separate page called Manjappada due to the following reasons :

1.The support section contains contents based on the fan club Manjappada that is independent of Kerala Blasters.

2. Continuous attempts were made by some users back in 2016-18 period to create the article called Manjappada. But the fan club was not notable at that time and failed WP:GNG. There were no reliable sources also. The Kerala Blasters article were also too short at that time. Thus Manjappada was redirected into the support section of Kerala Blasters.

3. But the scenario has changed now. Three more years has passed and the Kerala Blasters article is now around 103,000 bytes and the fan club has more than enough coverage and multiple reliable independent sources are present which includes sources from 1.1 2.2 3.3 4.4 ..etc which makes it pass WP:GNG. So the support section must be splitted out from the main article under the title Manjappada. WhiteFalcon1 (talk) 09:41, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Strong Support: As per the sources in the support section, its evident that the fan club meets notability criteria. Also the content in the support section seems off the topic that covers almost entirely about the fan club and its importance. The Kerala Blasters article is also large enough now to consider splitting. Shahoodu (talk) 10:20, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support: The fan club meets notability criteria, the sources back this up, this fan group is quite significant. TheEpicGhosty (talk) 13:04, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support : As per the nom, the contents in the support section covers mainly about the supporters group. Also the plenty of sources in the support section shows that they are an independently notable supporters group. Indianfootball98 (talk) 02:21, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Oppose: Yes the support does meet the notability criteria however the support section is not currently WP:UNDUE with the improvements made recently to the overall article. If the article had not been improved and the Support section was UNDUE within the context of the overall article I would have been in favour of a split. The 100,00 byte reasoning is somewhat obsolete in the context of the context of typically improved internet speeds and the efficiency of the mobile browser, xtools also show the prose is currently just under 23kb. Would not object to Manjappada being bolded within the Supporters section as there is already a redirect there from Manjappada. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 03:20, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Comment: There are more than enough sources available on the internet to make this page similar to Emerald City Supporters which is an independent supporters group. Its important that beyond just their engagement with Kerala Blasters, the fan group is involved in a lot more activities not just as a fan group, but as a organisation. Like the nominator said, Manjappada was redirected earlier due lack of reliable sources and size. So considering its current size and notability, I strongly suggest this page should exist as a seperate article. Thankyou Shahoodu (talk) 05:24, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support:The 100,00 byte reasoning is surely a factor to consider. Internet speed is not same as everywhere. As this club comes from India, the majority readers will be also Indians. As an Indian, let me tell the situation in my country. As per the report from a study, India ranks 131st in internet speed among the 138 countries included in the survey. 1.5 2.6. These reports just came yesterday. I would like to stress one point in the report here In some locations, you may get good speeds while in others you cant even refresh facebook. This is the case in the rural areas. Lot of places are there in the country where there is not even sufficient speed to browse the things such as wikipedia. Its also evident from the sources that the fan club is independent from the club which they support in many ways . So by considering the eminent size of this article also,I support the splitting. Sullyboywiki (talk) 06:58, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support: Plenty of in depth coverage in multiple sources including Major national newspaper which is green on Perennial source. The supporters group is independent from the Kerala Blasters in many ways considering their support for the Indian national football team and engagement in other social activities. Iamfarzan (talk) 02:39, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
  • Support as per nom:The supporters group is independent from the club from the club and have more contents and enough coverage to exist as a seperate article.TWFcode (talk) 19:24, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the done tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

The club is generally identifies by the yellow colour, which is the primary colour of the club since its inception.WhiteFalcon1 (talk) 18:01, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
But is that WP:LEDE-worthy information? Something like Norwich City F.C. states things about playing in yellow and that it ties in with being "The Canaries". The fact they play in yellow seems to have no baring on other information about the team Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 18:45, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Removed it from lede because there I can't find anything to justify the statement.

  • The final para is a bit all over the place. Remember a lede is supposed to cover the article to give a good overview as to what the subject is without reading the rest of the article. This should read that they were runners-up in the Super League on two occasions, and give the scores, and also the Elite League and Kerala league. • Almost there. I've done some MOS cleanup, specifically on the tables and such. There's two issues that I need you to adjust and then we're clean. One image File:Kibu vicuna.jpg is likely not free, and needs removal, and also there is still a lot of duplicate links in the article that need a cull. If you let me know when both are complete, I'll pass the article. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 11:46, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello Lee Vilenski About the review I really learned many things from this review like how a article should maintained , created and how each part article should look like.ThanksWhiteFalcon1 (talk) 14:52, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
No worries. Wikipedia is a complex beast. When you look to nominate a future article, take a look through this and see if things still need to be addressed. The article isn't in a superb state, but meets the GA criteria now. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:55, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

Table Of Contents

Per WP:WIAFA, this article's table of contents (ToC) may be too long – consider shrinking it down by merging short sections or using a proper system of daughter pages as per Wikipedia:Summary style. J.Stalin S Talk 08:03, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

As this is a GAN subpage, please do not use level 2 headers. I actually recommend this article to use 2. Baring in mind WIAFA has little to do with GA reviews. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:58, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

Splitting proposal

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

I propose that sections History be split into a separate page called History of Kerala Blasters FC. The article is currently around 125 kb, where the history section contributes almost half to it. Also the length of this section is out of proportion to the rest of the article. So I am proposing a Size Split for easy readability. Poppified talk 14:57, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

  • Support: Agree with the nominator. I think that the right time has come that we split the article's history section into a jndependent one considering its size. Regards Kichu🐘 Discuss 15:09, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Support as per nom: The article must be splitters considering its size Indianfootball98 (talk) 02:58, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Support as per nom: Agree with the nominator. There's won't be any conflict for anything regarding notability whatsoever. We can't always write every season's history on the main article with a good explanation, and the article's history section is so big to be independent. Internet range varies from places to place, and it will be difficult in some places to load this many heavy bytes all in one. So splitting might be a better option. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 09:58, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Support: Considering the size of the article, especially with the history section, I also agree with a split as per nom Iamfarzan (talk) 15:02, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

History Section

As there is now an independent article for the history of the club which comprises of the same content of the history section here, the section here must be reduced to smaller by removing unnecessary things. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 12:10, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Ken Tony Peter Its already done. I have removed the least important things from the artcile. It seems fine as of now. The new article about the clubs history is more than 68000 byte if Im right. The history section in the main article is around 42000 bytes. Hope thats fine. Regards Kichu🐘 Discuss 09:44, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Kashmorwiki Yeah, I can see that. What I'm saying is to reduce the history section more by cutting-down all these minor things like injury cases from history section. Individual player injury has no relevance in the history of the club. Ken Tony Shall we discuss? 15:49, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Ken Tony Peter, As I was the person who reduced the size earlier, I will definetely have a look at it. Regards Kichu🐘 Discuss 18:00, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
