This article is given as the source for the statement "The entire line, apart from the platform at Minami-Kesennuma Station, was destroyed by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami." The line as a whole is also referred to in the past tense in the lead. However, the source only claims that "All but the platform of Minami-Kesennuma Station on the JR Kesennuma Line was swept away by tsunami [...]." There are several ways to interpret this statement, and the one that seems most straightforward is "At the Minami-Kesennuma Station on the JR Kesennuma line, only the platform remained."
